About the Opportunity

As Director of Finance, you are responsible for developing and implementing GDPSC’s financial strategy. The Director of Finance will work closely with the Chief Business Officer to lead the organization on a long-term path of financial sustainability. The Director will also manage a team of four Operations and Finance Managers and will leverage the team to execute GDPSC’s financial strategy and operational goals. The Director’s team will be hyper focused on meeting GDPSC’s goal, goals such as meeting each school’s annual budget and enrollment targets. The Director of Finance will be a thoughtful collaborator who is mission-oriented, self-driven and has the ability to develop team members, is data-driven, has a high-level of personal accountability and can balance competing priorities at once, while bringing joy to the work.

What You’ll Do

The Director of Finance is responsible for the following in addition to any other projects as determined by their manager, the Chief Business Officer:

Financial Strategy

  • Work with the Chief Business Officer to develop and execute GDPSC’s long term financial strategy
  • Become an expert at California charter school funding
  • Manage GDPSC’s annual budget process by providing guidance, expertise and training to Chiefs, home office department heads and school principals
  • Review monthly financials, analyze trends, and provide senior management with financial updates on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Develop monthly forecasts and present quarterly updates to GDPSC’s Board of Directors
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and provide up to date financial data and information to all CA stakeholders.
  • Manage GDPSC’s long term forecasting process (5 years)
  • Develop facility finance models and work with GDPSC’s partners to develop and finance school facilities

Operations and Team Management

  • Manage a team of four Operations and Finance Managers, leading team in achieving operational and financial goals
  • Lead team through budget and forecasting process
  • Coach and develop the team with an emphasis on implementing operational best practices at school sites
  • Guide team through the development and coaching of school site operational teams
  • In collaboration with the Director of Operations, develop and implement plans to meet GDPSC enrollment goals
  • Establish plans for continuous improvement at both the home office and school sites by codifying practices, automating where possible and utilizing feedback and reflection to consistently improve the performance and service of the finance and operations team
  • Develop and implement KPIs to measure and track team performance

Qualifications

  • 8 - 10 Minimum years of work experience in finance and operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.

  • A competitive compensation package. The salary range for this position is between $125,000- $135,000 and is based on experience.
