THE OPPORTUNITY - LEAD prides itself as being a leader in the education industry with its unique approach to a sophisticated data architecture model that puts actionable information in the hands of educators. The Director of Data and Technology is responsible for leading this work, owning all data and technology functions of a dynamic and growing organization. In addition to providing the vision for this area, this role oversees our network data and tech staff and manages several external related vendors. This is a hands-on position with responsibilities that range from strategic and long-range planning and implementation of systemwide technology solutions, to providing one-on-one, and group training and support.

Major Performance Responsibilities and Duties:

People Leadership:

  • Directly manage, coach and develop the data and technology team at LEAD who help to ensure that all data systems run smoothly across the network.
  • Serve as lead project manager, ensuring that all team members are working towards the most priority work.
  • Serve as the primary point person for vendor relationships, including, but not limited to, data consultants and contractors, technology service providers and e-rate consultant. Ensure all vendors have a strong working relationship with LEAD, including monitoring and holding vendors accountable to meeting service level expectations.
  • Collaborate with Director of Network of Operations to ensure seamless technology management and procurement across all schools.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and requirements.

Data Infrastructure and Management Strategy:

  • Provide leadership for the direction, coordination, integration and implementation of data and technology processes across all LEAD Public Schools.
  • Oversee the development of the LEAD data infrastructure solution by managing and coaching analytics engineer.
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of annual scheduling and rostering for all schools.

Technology Strategy:

  • Oversee the planning, purchasing, installing and maintaining the physical technology systems of LEAD Public Schools in condition of excellence enabling full educational use of technology at all times in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and requirements.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of school-based technology projects by ensuring that school leaders, students and staff have access to the technology they need through school-based management of the network technology vendor.
  • Authorize permissions and individual access to technology applications or services for the purpose of ensuring proper access to technology systems by staff, students, parents and others consistent with district operating guidelines and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of relevant full-time professional experience in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects from beginning to end.
    • Experience working with analytics stack. LEAD’s current architecture includes:
      • Google Cloud Platform (architecture)
      • BigQuery (data warehouse)
      • dbt Cloud (data modeling/monitoring)
      • Looker (data visualization)
      • Dagster (data orchestration tool)
    • Full-time people management required
    • Experience in the education industry is preferred, but not required
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in applicable field preferred
    • Licenses or Certifications (if applicable): None
