CodeHS is a comprehensive program for helping schools teach computer science. We provide web-based curriculum, teacher tools and resources, and professional development.

We are a distributed team. Company headquarters is in Chicago, IL. This position can be located in a different state. Virtual/hybrid policies vary by location. Target start date is early 2023.

Director of Curriculum, High School/Middle School Job Description

CodeHS is looking to hire a Director of Curriculum for the High School/Middle School Curriculum Team. The role is responsible for all of the curriculum development and maintenance for high school and middle school content.

Responsibilities:

• The Director of Curriculum, HS/MS is a direct manager for other MS/HS curriculum developers, and is responsible for fulfilling the general guidelines for managers at CodeHS.
  • Lead weekly 1on1s with team members
  • Conduct performance reviews with direct reports
  • Help with weekly planning and project planning
  • Lead weekly team meetings
  • Helping direct reports complete projects with planning and prioritization
  • Involved in the hiring process of curriculum department team members
  • Help onboard new team members
  • Helping to train and coach members of your team
• In addition, the role includes responsibilities that specifically relate to the performance of the curriculum team:
  • Project planning across all areas of curriculum development for high school and middle school
  • Help set deadlines and help team members meet deadlines
  • Help plan course maintenance and new course development aligning to company goals
  • Help communicate curriculum updates across the team
  • Support curriculum projects internally and with external partners
  • Responsible for data and reporting of impact of courses

Requirements:

• Experience working in education or EdTech
• Experience managing projects and people
• Work well independently and autonomously, a self-starter
• Works well in teams
• Professional and clear at email
• Extremely organized and detail oriented
• Passionate about helping students and schools, in particular in computer science education
• Travel - 10-15% - company meet ups, department meet ups, conferences, leadership team meet ups
