Director of College Advising

A-List Education - Remote - Full time


A-List Education / Testive is a combined learning, test preparation, and college advising company delivering one-on-one instruction and adaptive learning technology to schools, non-profits, and students at all levels across the US.

A-List is dedicated to bringing innovation and equity to education. We work with families, schools, and nonprofits to provide solutions tailored to meet specific learning, assessment, and curriculum needs with the goal of improving college readiness. A-List offers synchronous and asynchronous instruction, adaptive learning assessment technology, and professional development nationwide.

Testive is a 100% Digital Adaptive Learning Platform that includes a curriculum of customized questions served up by an AI algorithm using Item Response Theory--the same assessment methodology used by the SAT and ACT. Students practice on 90-minute or full-length tests. Testive combines ed tech with live coaching in order to accelerate learning and exam preparation.

A-List acquired Testive in August 2020, and is in the process of integrating the teams to offer a broad range of scalable tools to better serve a wider audience of learners and test takers.


The Director of College Advising oversees, manages, and grows A-List’s college advising work with families, and college access programming with schools and nonprofits.

This role will spend equal time managing retail and institutional work.


Growth & Outreach

  • Generate new partnerships with schools and nonprofits; and maintain and grow existing partnerships
  • Create and maintain relationships with existing and new families that are interested in engaging the company for college advising
  • Conduct college advising consultations with potential clients
  • Participate in other marketing activities around growth
  • Track the conversion rate of college advising prospects
  • Plan and execute college advising marketing events
  • Ensure college access/advising portion of the website is consistently up to date

Management of College Advisors

  • Recruit, interview, and onboard college advisors
  • Provide initial and ongoing training for college advisors
  • Performance management with college advisors

Client Management

  • Oversee relationships with active families, and active institutional partners and maintain consistent communication
  • Ensure staffing for all families and programs
  • Conduct customer satisfaction surveys and interviews

Program Materials & Management

  • Create and update curriculum for college access programs
  • Update A-List’s college toolkit to fit client needs

In-House Expert

  • Stay up to date on admissions trends by participating in industry groups, engaging in conversations, and attending conferences
  • Tour at least 10 colleges every year
  • Understand how to communicate with the different stakeholders that the company works with, including families from different geographic regions, schools in NYC, and schools and nonprofits across the country


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in college advising
  • Experience in a college admissions office is preferred
  • Experience with managing a part time team is required
  • Ability to take initiative and organize activities
  • Passion for equity in the education industry


The compensation package for this exempt remote position includes: competitive annual salary plus commission, paid-time off, and benefit-eligibility.
