  • We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team of Charter School Development Directors to support the growth of our California and out-of-state charter schools and contracts to serve more students. This position will provide coordination in the ongoing planning, implementation, development of potential sales leads for charter growth. This position will provide direction, review and evaluation of charter applications. This Director of Charter School Development will be able to advocate for our model to obtain the community’s support of the school’s mission and vision. This position will also be responsible for representing the charter in related support activities such as attending community meetings and creating community support for our program. The candidate will also assist in providing charter/district leadership as directed by the Senior Director of Charter Development.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following: *

  • Coordinate California and multi-state charter and contract development
  • Obtain charter approvals for both EMS and PMG management
  • Obtain district charter contracts
  • Develop business leads; Participate in weekly team meetings
  • Set up meetings with key Superintendents and Department of Education members;
  • Visit sites and attend conferences;
  • Draft charter applications to be submitted to authorizers;
  • Compile data for California and out-of-state presentations.
  • Attend charter application trainings.
  • Build relationships with organizations and individuals that are decision makers in both the charter school world, on the state level and with district LEA’s.
  • Search out grant opportunities to support the growth of Pathways out-of-state.
  • Research potential growth states and key areas of opportunity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support charter and contract approvals.
  • Attend OFL and OFY sites in an on- going basis to learn the unique model.
  • Take the initiative with leading other state growth opportunities as needed.
  • Develop strategies for California and out-of-state growth.
  • Will be required to travel 50% of the time.
  • Based at Halstead location.
  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Network of California and national charter school contacts
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with multiple departments for information and coordination
  • Knowledge and background in sales
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Have successfully established charter schools across the nation
  • Ability to write a charter application and to analyze the information needed for a successful application;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to plan and execute a course of action to accomplish objectives.
  • Proven results orientation with a focus on achieving or surpassing targets.
  • Knowledge of education policy issues and familiarity with charter schools and traditional high school sectors in different states.
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Ability to travel when needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Education
  • Sales experience preferred
  • Charter School Development experience required
  • Knowledge of national charter school laws and issues
