POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Director of Learning Design who will be part of a team dedicated to building K-12 digital learning solutions that help educators and students succeed. Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Development, the Director of Learning Design will help to establish the foundational pedagogy and instructional approach for various digital learning products.

The Director, Learning Design will use research from the learning sciences to guide experts in content domains, user experience, product management, and technology in the instructional approach of digital learning solutions. The Director, Learning Design will work on multiple projects simultaneously and will design and direct from a learning-forward perspective throughout the product development cycle. The Director of Learning Design will also consult on marketing claims and competitive research, support usability, research and review content; and serve as a resource across the company on topics associated with their expertise.

The Director of Learning Design will:

Work with a cross-functional team to define product concepts, product requirements, business case, and go-to-market strategy.

Advise on appropriate content, pedagogy and assessment strategies.

Apply K-12 curriculum standards knowledge to the design and instructional approach of digital learning solutions.

Collaborate in creating guidelines for learning objectives and designing curricular items for digital learning experiences.

Make instructional approach and design recommendations for digital product concepts and prototypes.

Participate in the validation, and subsequent iteration, of concepts.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Preferred candidates will have:

Master’s degree in Education, the Learning Sciences, or related field, or 3+ years of experience in the area of designing digital learning materials for K-12 classrooms.

Expertise in pedagogical practices that create effective learning environments.

Skilled at managing curriculum design and development projects across organizations.

Understands K-12 curriculum standards.

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Proficient with common software (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Gmail, various internet browsers).

COMPENSATION

Base salary commensurate with experience.
