The Director of Educational Research & Evaluation provides leadership and day-to-day management for all efforts relating to ADL Education’s formative and summative evaluation design and implementation, program and impact research strategy and audience engagement and marketing analytics. This includes all instructional formats including online synchronous/asynchronous, blended, and face–to–face.

  1. Prepare evaluation reports and present findings for internal use and external distribution. Identify and pursue opportunities for formal recognition as evidence-based practice and programming.
  2. Systematically assess existing evaluation processes and tools for all programs; collaborate in identifying areas of priority and need.
  3. In collaboration with instructional designers, create and implement assessments to measure program fidelity and impacts
  4. Working with curriculum designers, design and implement formative and summative evaluation plans to measure impact and provide data for continuous improvement.
  5. In collaboration with colleagues, assist in identifying and pursuing potential funding opportunities and academic partnerships to further evaluation needs; develop logic models to support funding proposals and inform program development.
  6. Engage in ongoing strategies to track and analyze the impact of ADL programs and gaps in program content; recommend programmatic and operational improvements where appropriate.
  7. In collaboration with the Marketing Director, design and implement data–gathering and analytical strategies to continuously improve sales and engagement funnels.
  8. Work with national and regional staff to develop standardized surveys and analyze responses of staff and customers; monitor the accuracy of program data; and provide analytical support to staff in evaluation efforts.
  9. Manage survey deployment, data analysis, and reporting. Conduct interviews and focus groups.
  10. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to answer research and evaluation questions.


  1. Help to promote and reinforce a departmental culture of reflection, learning and evidence-based decision making.
  2. Conduct literature reviews and provide relevant resources and information to colleagues.
  3. Contribute information and data for funding reports, conference presentations and related publications.
  4. Develop and lead select professional development opportunities for regional and national staff.


Skills: A minimum of three years’ experience in education or other social–science program evaluation, and/or related research practices, including experience in data analytics. Programming and data visualization skills are preferred.

Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Experience working with STATA, SPSS or R.

Experience writing reports, articles or memos strongly preferred.

Prior experience developing and analyzing survey and assessment items preferred.

Work Experience: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible education/training experience including program evaluation experience.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education/Training or a related field or equivalent work experience.


Skills: A minimum of five years’ experience in data analysis, program evaluation, and/or related research practices, including experience in analytics.

Work Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in relevant program evaluation, with experience in the evaluation of social–emotional or social–impact interventions

Education: An advanced degree in Education, Psychology, or social science with an emphasis on research.

Work Environment

Flexibility to work evenings when necessary to complete time-critical projects. Occasional travel to ADL regions.
