What You’ll Do:

The Director of Education Partnerships leads business development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to develop K12 partnerships across a defined territory to improve student learning outcomes. The Director of Education Partnerships focuses on developing relationships at all levels, informed by consistent messaging that leads to the attainment of revenue goals for the territory.

Education Partnerships (Sales)

  • Develop comprehensive strategy to ensure the development of deep educational relationships, ultimately leading to attainment of individual and team revenue goals.
  • Work with educational partners to implement solutions that meet their educational objectives. Portfolio should include a mix of digital, digital Techbooks, professional learning, and STEM services.
  • Manage an assigned Region to develop relationships with education leaders and effectively position Discovery Education services to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Grow business pipeline and strategically direct resources to convert opportunities to partnerships.
  • Provide thought leadership to partners by connecting educators with effective practices.

Implementation/Account Management

  • Work with the partner engagement team to ensure deep integration of Discovery Education services within key strategic accounts.
  • Ensure ongoing dialogue with district leaders involved in implementations. Discuss progress with key leaders throughout the implementation to ensure key stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Communicate across Discovery Education to inform the growth of our business in the region.

Knowledge of Discovery Education Services

  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of all Discovery Education services.
  • Present overview of Discovery Education and services in a credible and consistent manner. Ensure colleagues are capable of the same.
  • Consistently work with educational leaders to design partnerships of Discovery Education services in a meaningful and solutions-oriented way.
  • Serve as an expert on education in the Midwest. Maintain an understanding of industry trends, current events, anything that may impact the business by reading professional publications, researching all available resources and participating in professional organizations.
  • Effectively communicate with educational partners regarding current educational topics and trends (i.e. Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, funding, legislation, technology, etc.).

Leadership

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively across Discovery Education to support strategies for growing Discovery Education partnerships.
  • Hire, coach, and strategically direct team of partnership managers to exceed business development goals.
  • Develop a team with clearly defined revenue targets and drive a regular cadence of territory reviews and business plans.
  • Determine individual strategies for team members that ultimately support overall territory strategy.
  • Model effective communication, presentation skills, account strategy, and problem solving for the team.
  • Coach team members and collaborators to effectively work their assigned accounts and build capacity for securing new partnerships.

Internal Communication

  • Interact directly with senior management across Discovery Education to articulate growth opportunities for educational partnerships and provide leadership related to general strategy and business development.
  • Assist in the creation of sales and marketing materials for assigned territory.

Budget

  • Assist with the development of annual territory revenue and expense projections.
  • Adhere to budget by managing travel, marketing and account management expenses.

General

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Discovery Education’s overall goals and strategic vision. Share this knowledge with team and partners when appropriate.
  • Provide consistently positive and energetic leadership.
  • Live in the region to be active in districts daily. Additional travel approximately 50% of time (with seasonal variations) for conferences and company meetings. This may include weekend travel.
  • Meet with key stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Establish strong relationships will all internal and external partners.

Who You Are:

  • 3+ years of managerial experience with a proven track record of territory management and exceptional client relations.
  • 5-7 years sales and account management and customer acquisition (net new sales) experience. Demonstrated track record of success and revenue generation / goal attainment.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, presentation, organizational and verbal/written communication skills required.
  • K12 Education experience strongly preferred.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
