Reporting to the Sr. Operations Manager, the Digital Production Manager will drive the successful execution of product development programs and initiatives with direct responsibility for the Digital Production team. The Digital Production Manager will become the expert in our Teacher Toolbox and Bookshelf digital products, and with Curriculum Associates’ customized instance of the Magnolia CMS that powers them.

Teacher Toolbox is Curriculum Associates’ repository of teacher-led instructional resources; Bookshelf products are enhanced digital versions of student-facing pedagogy. The Digital Production Manager will be responsible for oversight, maintenance, and updates to both Teacher Toolbox and Bookshelf products; this will include the timely creation of new and updated Toolbox experiences using digital-only and digital-from-print assets, overseeing the creation of ePub3 files for Bookshelf, and implementation of errata corrections to files as needed.

The impact you’ll have:

  • You will oversee the creation of high-quality digital products that support our customers (both teachers and students), and which augment our printed products
  • Your advocacy for workflow and platform enhancements will improve internal and external user experience and processes
  • As part of the Operations team, you will serve as the primary contact and consultant for our digital solutions and collaborate with Production and QA managers, Operations leadership, Platform and Project Management, and various other stakeholders
  • You will mentor, train, and develop staff; providing input, growth opportunities, feedback, and coaching to enhance performance and help them attain professional goals
  • You will manage workflows, schedule planning, communication, and support leadership initiatives and company objectives
  • You will manage one staff direct report and several vendors

Who we’re looking for:

  • An individual looking to grow in a dynamic educational technology and publishing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in discipline related to publishing, or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
  • 2 years of supervisory experience or the equivalent demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, coaching, and training staff who manage technical projects within strict deadlines and budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage staff and vendor resources across multiple projects and/or on a program level; ability to inform and/or manage budgets for multiple projects
  • Experience initiating, leading, and overseeing process improvement initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate confidently, effectively, and diplomatically with technical and non-technical staff, vendors, and senior management
  • Proven commitment to providing excellent customer service; demonstrated willingness to take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution
  • Solid experience and firm understanding of XML Metadata
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and PDFs, and issue, schedule, or project tracking software or tools (JIRA, SmartSheet, Wrike, MS Project, etc.)

We'd also love to see:

  • Experience with WoodWing or other publishing Content Management Systems
  • Experience with InDesign and Adobe Cloud solutions
  • Working knowledge of various web-based languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Prior experience with SmartSheet
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products
  • Previous experience in Educational Publishing

Location:

  • This position can be in one of our offices (North Billerica, MA, Brooklyn, NY) or remote
  • Willingness to work East Coast business hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST) is required
