Digital Advertising and Social Media Manager

EdSurge, the leading source for edtech news, research and events, is looking for a Digital Advertising and Social Media Manager to support our B2B and B2C marketing initiatives and play a pivotal role in the growth of the business.

We’re looking for someone who thinks analytically and is excited to help shape the development and implementation of our digital marketing strategy. This person should have experience implementing digital marketing strategy, particularly in paid advertising and social media. Ideally, this marketing expert is passionate about education and has a deep understanding of EdSurge’s diverse audience of educators and edtech companies. The marketing team is small which means this role is for someone who loves the idea of rolling up their sleeves and really owning a particular domain (with the support of a team). In this job you will:

  • Be responsible for short and long-term strategy for EdSurge’s social (paid and organic) and digital advertising presence; this includes constantly testing new and current strategies and campaigns to persistently analyze and improve results
  • Manage and collaborate with Social Media Contractor, who is responsible for organic posting of EdSurge’s editorial content to social media channels
  • Manage and develop social and digital ad campaigns for EdSurge content and events, such as webinars and conferences
  • Work closely with Sales and Sponsored Content teams to deliver results for and communicate with clients
  • Compile, analyze and distribute analytics reports (with data from Google Analytics, social platforms, ad platforms, etc.) to the internal team, regularly making recommendations, updates and improvements to the social strategy and ad campaigns based on your findings
  • Quickly adjust strategy based on the current needs of Sales and Marketing
  • Stay up-to-date with all social and ads channels, industry changes and emerging platforms; make recommendations based on your findings
  • Get to really know our target audiences and their behaviors and report findings
  • Respond to the community across various social channels as needed
  • Be an integral part of an ambitious, fun and close-knit team within a start-up


What makes you a great fit for this role:

  • You have 5+ years of professional experience developing and implementing digital marketing strategy, preferably with a focus on digital advertising and/or social media marketing
  • You have deep knowledge of effective digital advertising strategy and tactics
  • You are proficient with key digital advertising tools and platforms including Google Ads and Facebook ads
  • You are confident with analytics tools in the marketing tech stack including Google Analytics
  • You have strong written and communication skills and an eye for detail
  • You’re able to move at a fast pace and change course when necessary!
  • You love working collaboratively with others and finding ways to solve problems
  • You are passionate about education
