Desktop Support Specialist (Raleigh, NC)

IXL Learning, a leading edtech company with products used by over 12 million students worldwide, is seeking an up-and-coming IT professional to join our team. As a Desktop Support Specialist, you will join a small team focused on making the lives of our coworkers easier by providing them the technology they need to do their jobs. You'll troubleshoot workstations and laptops, be an integral part of the onboarding process, and assist in managing the technology infrastructure for the company. You should love experimenting with new technologies, enjoy helping your coworkers, and be unintimidated by juggling multiple projects.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Manage all Windows and OSX desktops and laptops in our Raleigh office
  • Assist in the deployment, maintenance, and support of all software, hardware, and operating systems
  • Assist with onboarding by setting up new accounts and hardware
  • Troubleshoot issues with Windows Server 2016 and 2012
  • Research and resolve employee support tickets involving hardware, software, malware in an efficient and timely manner
  • Provide training to improve user awareness of all IT services and best practices
  • Work with vendors in purchasing hardware and software
  • Administration of Google Apps, ShoreTel/Mitel phone system, and other office-wide employee-facing systems
  • Effective communication with fellow employees

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • BA/BS degree
  • 2-3 years in an IT support environment
  • Experience with Windows 10 and OSX
  • Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Experience troubleshooting complicated systems and problems
  • Eager to learn Linux and related technologies
  • Excellent writing/documentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and with small teams
  • A passion for technology and helping users fix their problems
  • Experience with iOS/Android/Linux a plus
