Schools regularly organize events that bring together students, parents, educators and political leaders to advocate for active civic engagement and unity. OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking talented educational leaders with a desire to foster high levels of academic achievement in urban middle and high schools.The Dean of Students helps to create a positive campus-wide culture, implement the school-wide behavior management program and facilitate parent conferences, interventions, and other student supports as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

> Implement school wide discipline system

> Coordinate school detention, In-school suspension and Saturday School program

> Lead the implementation of restorative practices through professional development and training for staff and students

> Collect and analyze discipline data

> Lead professional development around discipline and safety issues for the whole staff

> Facilitate parent conferences as needed

> Facilitate daily check-ins with Campus Security Officers and security staff

> Supervision before, during, after school, including lunch periods, and other school events

> Lead the school-based School Culture team

> Lead the school-based Emergency team to ensure school-wide procedures are in place

> Lead the school-based Discipline Review Board to support intervention and student conduct agreements

> Lead community outreach for student intervention services (anger management, gang intervention programs)

> Participate in instructional leadership opportunities as needed, including the evaluation of teachers

> Evaluate the performance of teachers and Campus Security Officers, and coach them on their individual development

QUALIFICATIONS

> You possess a growth mindset and love of learning

> You hold a valid CA Clear Single Subject or Multiple Subject teaching credential or PPS credential in School Counseling (or an equivalent out-of-state credential which is transferrable to California)

> You hold a valid CA Administrative credential/Certificate of Eligibility (or an equivalent out-of-state credential which is transferrable to California), or are in the process of obtaining one

> You have a minimum of 5 years of teaching or counseling experience at the middle or high school level, with a history of improving student achievement

> You demonstrate proven leadership capabilities

> You have the ability to work independently and manage time effectively

> You have excellent interpersonal communication and written skills

> You have experience working in an urban school setting

> You have experience implementing policies and systems

> You are passionate about improving urban schools and driving education reform

> You have a strong ethical base and self-awareness

> You have the ability to establish/foster a positive and safe school culture

> You have an understanding of effective professional development and ability to implement

> You have demonstrated ability in conflict resolution

> You have an understanding of effective instruction

> You have experience leading a team

> You have experience managing systems

> You are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve

> Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable

> You will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

COMPENSATION

The annual salary for a Dean ranges from $83,000 - $103,390, based on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan including (but not limited to) medical, dental, vision, life insurance and STRS participation, as well as the opportunity to impact a growing, mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of all students.
