OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking talented educational leaders with a desire to foster high levels of academic achievement in urban middle and high schools. The Dean of Students helps to create a positive campus-wide culture, implement the school-wide behavior management program and facilitate parent conferences, interventions, and other student supports as needed. You will support the school leadership team in establishing behavior management protocols and maintaining a positive, “college for certain” environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

> Implement school wide discipline system

> Coordinate school detention, In-school suspension and Saturday School program

> Lead the implementation of restorative practices through professional development and training for staff and students

> Collect and analyze discipline data

> Lead professional development around discipline and safety issues for the whole staff

> Facilitate parent conferences as needed

> Facilitate daily check-ins with Campus Security Officers and security staff

> Supervision before, during, after school, including lunch periods, and other school events

> Lead the school-based School Culture team

> Lead the school-based Emergency team to ensure school-wide procedures are in place

> Lead the school-based Discipline Review Board to support intervention and student conduct agreements

> Lead community outreach for student intervention services (anger management, gang intervention programs)

> Participate in instructional leadership opportunities as needed, including the evaluation of teachers

> Evaluate the performance of teachers and Campus Security Officers, and coach them on their individual development

QUALIFICATIONS

> Possesses a growth mindset and love of learning

> Bachelor’s degree required

> A valid California Clear single-subject or multiple subject teaching credential is required (enrollment in an Administrator credential program will be required by January 31, 2018, and possession of a valid California Administrator credential will be required by June 30, 2019)

> Have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the middle or high school level, with a history of improving student achievement

> Demonstrated leadership capabilities

> Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

> Excellent interpersonal communication and written skills

> Experience working in an urban school setting

> Demonstrated ability in implementing professional development

> Experience implementing policies and systems

> A passion for improving urban schools and driving education reform

> Must have a strong ethical base and self-awareness

> Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable

> Ability to establish/foster a positive and safe school culture

> Understanding of effective professional development and ability to implement

> Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution

> Understanding of effective instruction

> Experience leading a team

> Experience managing systems

> Dependability, humility, sense of humor, and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve

> Must be able to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

COMPENSATION

The annual salary for Deans ranges from $78,000 - $89,250. Actual salary (within this range) will be commensurate with experience and based on school size. We also offer a comprehensive benefits plan (including CalSTRS participation), as well as the opportunity to impact a growing, mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of all students.
