We are seeking talented educational leaders with a desire to foster high levels of academic achievement in urban middle and high schools. The Dean of Students will support the school administrative team in establishing discipline protocols and maintaining a safe and civil school. The Dean will implement the school-wide discipline program and facilitate parent conferences, interventions, and other student supports as needed.


> Implement school wide discipline system

> Coordinate school detention, In-school suspension and Saturday School program

> Collect and analyze discipline data

> Lead professional development around discipline and safety issues for the whole staff

> Facilitate parent conferences as needed

> Supervision before, during, after school, including lunch periods, and other school events

> Lead the school-based Safe and Civil team

> Lead the school-based Emergency team

> Lead the school-based Discipline Review Board

> Community outreach for student intervention services (anger management, gang intervention programs)

> Participate in instructional leadership opportunities as needed.

> Evaluate the performance of teachers and other school employees and coach them on their individual development


> Possesses a growth mindset and love of learning

> California Clear single-subject or multiple subject teaching credential

> Valid Administrative Credential or comparable out of state credential which is transferrable to California

> 5 or more years of teaching at the middle or high school level with a history of improving student achievement

> Demonstrated leadership capabilities

> Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

> Excellent interpersonal communication and written skills

> Experience working in an urban school setting

> Demonstrated ability in implementing professional development

> Experience implementing policies and systems

> A passion for improving urban schools and driving education reform

> Must have a strong ethical base and self-awareness

> Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable

> Ability to establish/foster a positive and safe school culture

> Understanding of effective professional development and ability to implement

> Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution

> Understanding of effective instruction

> Experience leading a team

> Experience managing systems

The annual salary for Deans ranges from $70,000 - $80,000, and we match your 8.15% contribution to CalSTRS by 8.88%. Actual salary (within this range) will be commensurate with experience and based on school size.
