Position Description

TheBlended Learning Specialistwill play an integral role in implementing PowerMyLearning’s Programs in San Francisco Bay Area. These programs are aimed at supporting our partner schools in driving students’ ownership of their learning and propelling student achievement, both in and outside the classroom, to meet the challenges of the Common Core State Standards and ensure student college readiness and success.

The Blended Learning Specialist will play a pivotal role in implementing the individualized teacher Professional Development component of our Programs. The Blended Learning Specialist will collaborate directly with a small group of schools to deliver various combinations of PowerMyLearning-designed educator workshops and on-site consulting packages that leverage digital learning, data-driven instruction, and blended learning, designed to increase student achievement and extend learning outside of the classroom.

The Blended Learning Specialist, in collaboration with the Director of Programs and individual school leaders, will pursue new school partnerships and play an ongoing and integral role in demand generation for additional educator support services. The Blended Learning Specialist will work towards reaching school partnership goals, in conjunction with regional leadership, in order to increase our impact each program year. Additionally, the Blended Learning Specialist will collaborate with PowerMyLearning’s National and San Francisco Bay Area staff in further developing blended learning consulting strategies and PowerMyLearning’s online learning platform, PowerMyLearning Connect®, utilizing lessons learned from working with our partner schools. The Blended Learning Specialist’s place of work will be PowerMyLearning’s partner schools in the San Francisco Bay Area , as well as the PowerMyLearning-San Francisco Bay Area office.

This position reports to the Director of Programs.


Lead PowerMyLearning Programs to Yield Outstanding Results

●Collaborate with administrators and teachers at partner schools to develop goals and plans to increase student achievement aligned with the school’s goals and PowerMyLearning’s program goals;

●Lead teacher professional development sessions on incorporating digital learning in classroom instruction and facilitate teacher team meetings to help refine the implementation of PowerMyLearning’s online learning platform and other blended learning models that support the Common Core State Standards;

●Provide on-site guided support to teachers as they explore different ways they can leverage the classroom implementation of blended learning strategies (demonstration teaching, classroom observation, feedback discussions, etc.). This includes collecting data and evidence of progress toward implementation of blended learning;

●Support the implementation of the other PowerMyLearning service components at partner schools, including working closely with the Program Manager to implement family engagement programs and achieve family engagement goals;

●Provide feedback based on personal experience in the field to the PowerMyLearning National staff and PowerMyLearning Connect team as they develop new teacher tools and consistently improve PowerMyLearning programs and services.

Ensure a High-Performing Team

●Actively solicit positive and constructive feedback from their supervisor and other team members. This includes managing up by being proactive and keeping their supervisor and PowerMyLearning leadership informed of changing priorities;

●Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve overall team goals and actively engage in cross-regional collaboration and share best practices;

●Proactively educate all regional staff members on lessons learned in the classroom and emerging trends in the field of Blended Learning.

Support Sustainability

●Track new and existing school contacts using internal systems and database;

●Schedule and attend meetings with new and existing school partners to solidify new partnerships and continue existing partnerships;

●Gather and accurately report program data for local and national sustainability efforts;

●In conjunction with Senior Leadership, help prepare for and attend meetings with funders and potential funders as needed. This includes leveraging relationships with schools and school district staff for visits from potential partner organizations and funders;

●Cultivate school-based PowerMyLearning champions, who are excited to help the organization further its mission;

●Lead regional efforts to engage more teachers, schools, and partner organizations in our work each year by participating in annual school selection process and other events outside of program implementation;

●Understand and communicate the mission and theory of change to staff, clients, funders, and other stakeholders;

●Other duties as necessary, including attendance at evening events as needed during the school year (approximately 2-3 times) with comp time to be used the following week.

Candidate Qualifications


●Passion for PowerMyLearning’s mission

●At least two years of experience as a K-12 classroom teacher in a public school, ideally in middle-school

●Experience working in low-income communities

●Experience with blended learning and leveraging digital learning in instruction

●Experience overseeing or leading professional development

●Demonstrated experience leading presentations and/or training sessions

●Proven organizational and problem-solving skills

●Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal oversight

●Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects

●Excellent written and verbal communication skills

●Exceptional relationship-building skills

●Demonstrated flexibility when priorities change

●Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

●Access to reliable transportation


●Master’s degree in Education or related field

●Teaching certification

●Experience managing school partnerships

●Experience working with an English Language Learner population

●Experience working with Bay Area public schools

●Experience writing or developing lesson plans and curriculum

●Experience teaching Math, Science, ELA and/or Special Education
