Educational Software Project Manager

The Concord Consortium (, a nonprofit research and development organization dedicated to transforming STEM education through technology, is looking for a creative, organized, and personable Project Manager to assist in the management of multi-year educational technology projects. By interacting with a variety of project partners including researchers, programmers, teachers, and students, you will work to ensure the success of cutting-edge research into the use of technology to further STEM education. We’re looking for a team player who is excited to work in a stimulating, technology‐rich environment to help make a difference in education. This position is located in Emeryville, CA.

Your responsibilities in this position will include:

●Working with researchers, curriculum developers, programmers, and administrative staff on a variety of technology-focused research and development projects across the organization

●Developing a solid understanding of all aspects of the projects

●Keeping track of schedules, timelines, and deliverables for grant-based projects

●Planning and assisting with project-related events such as technology testing, classroom trials, and trainings

●Working with teams to prioritize competing needs and solve problems that impede progress on projects

●Completing all necessary reports and communications for lead investigator

●Addressing project technical support issues

●Coordinating software releases and helping lead developer track their status

●Managing outside consultants and contractors on technology developments and deliverables

●Following up on status of stories and features from various projects

●Scheduling development status meetings for various projects

To accomplish this you need:

●5+ years’ experience managing a design and development team

●Success managing a schedule and expectations for software development projects, especially those involving software / hardware integration

●Experience in working with a software development team

●Successful track record in working with small and large teams with onsite and remote team members

●Willingness to travel to school test sites during the school year for daily observations or assistance in multi-week classroom implementations

●Interest in improving student learning through cutting-edge technology

●Ability to create agendas for project status meetings and document and facilitate those meetings

●Excellent interpersonal skills

●Ability to evaluate and balance competing interests

●Detail-oriented focus and diligence about follow up

●Proven ability to manage multiple priorities responsibly

●Expertise in effective, tactful, and concise communication

You will be even more successful if you have:

●Experience working within an agile software development process

●Agile or Scrum Master certification

●Compassion for teachers, students, and education

●Familiarity with managing STEM education technology products

●Experience configuring and delivering technology in an educational environment

●Understanding of web development and information technologies

●Willingness to learn new tools and systems for project management
