Position Overview:
BellXcel is looking for an experienced Azure Database Administrator to join our growing Product Engineering team responsible for enhancing BellXcel’s enterprise platform. The Azure Database Administrator will be key member of our Platform Infrastructure group and will be responsible for overseeing database operations, including security, performance, access, and disaster recovery.
Success in this role requires high level of expertise with Azure SQL maintenance and optimization, Data Factory and other modern ETL/ELT technologies and strategies, and information security best practices relative to SaaS based businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Overall ownership of backend database architecture, infrastructure and process.
- Database access management and provisioning.
- Manage disaster preparedness, backup and recovery process.
- Monitor utilization and suggest areas to improve scalability, performance and cost.
- Collaborate with engineering team in solution design, development and troubleshooting.
- Participate in agile ceremonies as a key contributor to the Scrum process.
- Keep up to date with Azure database services; follow and recommend best practices.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3-5 years of professional hands-on experience in a lead database administrator role for one or more SaaS based products.
- Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA) design.
- Demonstrated experience and familiarity with the following technologies:
- Azure SQL / Elastic Pools
- Azure Data Factory and other ETL tools
- Azure Active Directory and database networking and storage services
- Azure Application Insights & log analysis tools
- Microsoft Cloud Defender and other security tools
- Experience with database auto-scaling, replication, datamarts, and reporting database design.
- Experience integrating back end services with Salesforce via Jitterbit or other pipeline applications.
- Strong experience managing backend services that conform to high standards for security and data privacy.
- Extreme attention to detail with strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Preferred: Experience with Google Big Query and no-SQL databases such as Elastic Cloud, Azure Cosmos DB.
- Preferred: Experience in EdTech space and experience with Learning Management Systems.
Education
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
