Data Fellow 2021-2022

The Primary School - East Palo Alto, California - Full time


The Primary School model is dependent on having a rich and integrated view of a child, built on data about a child’s academic, health, and socio-emotional well-being. The Data Fellow will play a critical role in ensuring we have an accurate robust set of data to inform our program design and evaluation, by collecting a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative data.

This role requires both a strong attention to detail and the ability to work with a wide variety of people, including students, families, and staff members.

The fellow is scoped for a school-year opportunity with the potential to expand to a permanent position in the future.


  • Deliver a variety of assessments, screeners, and evaluations to students including oral, written, tech-based
  • Collect qualitative data through interviews and focus groups
  • Perform observations of various programs (e.g., classrooms) to record activities
  • Train other staff in how to collect data
  • Enter data into spreadsheets and databases
  • Develop and oversee the operations necessary to organize and collect data
  • Clean and aggregate existing datasets
  • Other responsibilities as needed including administrative support


  • Fellows are paid $20/hour and have access to the healthcare benefits of The Primary School.

  • Competence in Excel and/or Google Sheets

  • Fluent Spanish speaker
  • Experience working with young children
