GENERAL SUMMARY:

Aspire’s Data and Analysis Team is charged with analyzing achievement and organizational data, creating analysis products/tools to facilitate key stakeholder analysis of their own data, and managing our assessment regime .

The Assessment and Data Manager will coordinate both external (i.e. state mandated) and internal assessments (i.e. Aspirewide and some regional) as well as oversee Illuminate, Aspire’s assessment management tool. This person will play a key role in working with stakeholders at the national, regional, school and teacher levels to ensure Aspire’s assessments are effectively administered. In addition this role will analyze student achievement data.

This position will be based in Oakland, CA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assessment and Data Manager

  • Become an expert on Aspire-wide and regional assessments.
  • Manage Aspire’s external assessment regime (e.g. ACT, CELDT, SBAC, PFT and new state mandated science test) and Aspirewide assessments (e.g. STAR Ren Reading Diagnostic, Aspire Performance Tasks, and Aspire Interims).
  • Provide support for regions as they implement their curriculum embedded assessments (e.g. KIPP Wheatley and Eureka math) and other key assessments (with the possibility of creating on-line assessments in Illuminate).
  • Become an expert on using Illuminate to create and administer assessments as well as analyzing results. Become an expert in using the CAASSP system for administering and tracking SBAC scores.
  • Train stakeholders in assessment fundamentals and how to effectively utilize Illuminate and CAASP to identify actionable insights to improve student achievement.
  • Analyze external and internal achievement data to identify achievement strengths and challenges at the national, regional, school, and teacher levels.
  • Collaborate extensively with all involved teams including: Technology Infrastructure, Data Visualization, Teacher Effectiveness, Education, Secondary, and SPED.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools’ mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Some travel required including driving and air travel for trips to regions and schools to provide direct regional/school support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Demonstrated commitment to students and learning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Common Core standards and aligned curricula.
  • Experience administering SBAC and other on-line assessments in Illuminate.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and providing professional development to school administrators and teachers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of using achievement data to increase student, teacher, and school performance.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing achievement data in Excel or other statistical analysis software (e.g. SPSS or STATA).
  • Penchant for learning and adapting to new technology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work as a team.
  • Highly adaptable, able to be effective and maintain composure in fast pace and stressful environments.

2) Minimum educational level:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Masters preferred
  • 3) Experience required:
    • 2+ years in K-12 education, working with urban students as a full-time teacher
    • 2+ years administering and analyzing SBAC data
    • 2+ years creating and administering on-line assessments highly preferred
