OPPORTUNITY

The Curriculum Specialist in History will support teachers at multiple schools, in the implementation of the Green Dot History Program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Curriculum Development & Implementation

> Align middle and high school history curriculum with the CA History Social Science Framework

> Provide resources to support school and district strategic plans related to history by:

*coordinating efforts of the ILT and history teams

*integrating history content, literacy, inquiry and civic engagement into the history curriculum for all school sites

*providing guidance and professional development to history leads at each school and ensure sustainability of strategic plans

*attending district professional development and collaboration, serving as liaison between the home office and campus leadership teams

Coaching & Professional Development

> Provide coaching to history teachers, with an emphasis on intensive coaching for new teachers

> Provide professional development to new teachers and history teachers throughout the organization

> Work with Curriculum & Coaching team to codify the teacher-coaching model

> Work with history teacher leaders to develop professional development sessions

QUALIFICATIONS

> At least 4 years teaching experience at the middle or high school level

> Bachelor’s Degree plus successful completion of the CBEST and CSET examinations

> Master in Education (or related field) preferred

> Solid knowledge of subject matter including CA State Framework for History Social Science

> Solid knowledge of adult learning theory and new teacher developmental needs

> Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential

> CA Single Subject Credential in History

> Expertise in adolescent literacy

> Experience developing and facilitating professional development

> Excellent verbal and written communication skills

> Dependability, humility, sense of humor, and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve

> Must be able to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

COMPENSATION

The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with education and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits plan as well as the opportunity to impact a growing, mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of all students.
