Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) is a well-funded, non-profit based in Palo Alto, CA, with a mission to revolutionize the teaching of personal finance in all schools and to improve the financial lives of the next generation of Americans. We believe that ALL young people deserve a personal finance education that’s free, high-quality, and accessible.

Founded in May 2014, NGPF’s curriculum and professional development activities support over 16,000 high school finance educators serving a million students. Our work has been featured in theNew York Times, Wall Street Journal, Channel One News and has been recognized by the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy for innovative leadership in the personal finance education space. We are looking for a passionate and energetic professional to scale our professional development efforts and support teachers.

The Role

As a Curriculum Developer, you will curate, create, and maintain curricular resources for personal finance educators at the middle and high school level to use in their classrooms. Additionally, you will engage with and support our community of teachers individually via chat, email, phone and in larger groups using our virtual professional development options.

The position will be based at our office in downtown Palo Alto just off University Ave, within a 5 minute walk to Caltrain. There may be the opportunity to travel locally and/or nationwide to offer in-person PD if candidate is interested and has experience in that area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design new activities, projects, etc. that are engaging, rigorous, scaffolded, and standards-aligned
  • Develop a cohesive curriculum targeted at middle school students
  • Create modules for parents that enable engagement with their children on money matters
  • Generate high quality assessments and analyze data to assure fair and accurate testing
  • Collaborate with other members of our curriculum team to revise and update existing products and generate new content
  • Provide online teacher professional development; there may be the opportunity to travel locally and/or nationwide to offer in-person PD if candidate is interested
  • Provide support to teachers who may need assistance with or have questions about NGPF curriculum
  • As-needed tasks which contribute to the organization’s overall goal

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of classroom teaching experience
  • Experience creating engaging lessons at the middle or high school level
  • Ability to simultaneously work within the structures of our pre-existing curriculum but also generate novel or creative new curricular content
  • Acute attention to detail, with the ability to not only produce low-error content yourself but also to proofread and peer review the work of others
  • Complete comfort giving and receiving high impact collegial feedback
  • Mission-oriented with desire to increase access to personal financial education for all
  • Proven ability to work successfully and autonomously in fast paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks that are outside the job description and advance our work
  • Sense of urgency when completing critical tasks
  • Bachelor’s degree
