Education Management Systems is actively seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Curriculum Developer (Math) for our growing and expanding Curriculum Department. The prime directive of this position is to develop standards-based curriculum for the 6-12 grade independent study school setting. The Curriculum Developer will work within a team to develop new curriculum to support students in improving academic skills and to advance school-wide goals.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborates with other curriculum staff to establish standards-based learning outcomes for courses.
  • Collaborates with teachers, school leaders, and other curriculum staff to create and roll out backwards-planned, standards-based curriculum to the field.
  • Uses various data to make adjustments and revisions to curriculum to increase student learning results.
  • Author scripts to be used in the creation of digital and paper-based curriculum.
  • Designs standards-based formative and summative assessments using appropriate testing methods.
  • Monitors assessment data for accuracy and makes adjustments to assessments to increase student learning.
  • Reviews and provides feedback to other Curriculum Developers’ lessons and assessments.
  • Maintains organized tracking of progress on projects in a timely and accurate manner to Lead Curriculum Developer.
  • Researches and incorporates current curriculum trends and keeps abreast of changes in curriculum design.
  • Supports the training of teachers and other school staff on new curriculum.
  • Assists in writing and submitting A-G list submissions for company.
  • Assists with other functions and duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to work independently and within a team, to work efficiently, meet deadlines and exercising reasonable judgment in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of instructional design, curriculum trends and curriculum design methods for digital and paper-based curriculum.
  • Ability to analyze data appropriately, editing and proofing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of assessment types and their appropriate uses and functions.
  • Ability to cooperatively collaborate with all departments and team members in a timely, responsive manner to meet business needs and reach company goals.
  • Strong written, presentation, communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of Google Suite and LMS programs and the ability to use technology effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining diplomacy, courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.
  • Excellent knowledge of company curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Strong background in subject matter.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign.
  • Understanding of self-paced, independent study program.

Education and Experience:

  • Possession of a California Teaching Credential required
  • Minimum 6 months company teaching experience preferred
