Who are we?

What the role is

Do you dream of reimagining the way we teach STEM? Are you bursting with creative ideas for bringing learning to life? Do you wish school focused on making learning relevant and hands-on? This could be the job for you!

We are turning the typical school experience on its head, so this is not your average curriculum development role. You’ll be working alongside our distributed team to develop an online curriculum that enables flexible, self-paced learning, has a strong component of project-based and experiential learning, and leverages existing best-in-class online educational programs and tools.

What you will do

• Develop a math & science curriculum that is designed for live video workshops and asynchronous, self-paced learning and that is interdisciplinary (blends math/science with other subjects) and project-based.
• Work alongside our curriculum development team to develop the overarching goals of our curriculum, select themes for our six-week cycles, develop the learning modules and standards for these cycles (across all disciplines) and built out various aspects of our program.
• Work closely with our coaching team to incorporate feedback from coaches and learners.
• Facilitate STEM focussed workshops with our learners to test and refine your curriculum.

Who the ideal candidate is

• You have a deep passion for education and a desire to change the world
• You have a background in teaching math and know how to make it come alive for kids
• Ideally, you also have a background in and passion for science
• Though your background is in math (and perhaps science) you are comfortable writing curriculum across a breadth of subjects
• You are an exceptionally creative thinker who questions the status quo
• You have a passion for alternative models of education
• You know what it takes to make learning exciting for kids (especially 4-8 graders)
• You are a strong believer in the power of technology to enhance students’ learning
• You have expertise in designing and implementing curriculum
• You have familiarity with middle school educational standards
• You are comfortable soliciting feedback from coaches, students and parents
• You are comfortable working in a distributed team and desire a job with a high level of personal agency
• You are an excellent writer
• You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment.
• Experience actively teaching math or other STEM subjects is strongly preferred.
