Options for Youth (OFY) and Opportunities for Learning (OFL) Charter Schools are free public charter schools serving students grades 7-12 who have fallen behind in school, are looking to get ahead and graduate early, or simply desire a non-traditional learning environment. We seek to provide at-risk and underserved students an alternative to traditional learning methods and environments

General Summary:

The prime directive of this position is to maintain and update current Independent Study Curriculum in order to support the academic goals of the company. This position provides direct certificated instructional support 90% of the time

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

  • Responsible for communication about Curriculum Department updates and needs between various stakeholders including Purchasing, vendors, school leaders, and teachers
  • Works with Purchasing to ensure orders of curriculum are delivered in a timely and accurate manner to the schools. Also maintains communication with the schools about the delivery of curricular products.
  • Maintains organized tracking about progress of projects in a timely and accurate manner to Lead Curriculum Specialist
  • Ensures that curriculum websites, course description index, course list, and course contracts are kept updated and current. Accesses reliable website resources for company courses.
  • Keeps OFY,OFL and Pathways staff informed of test corrections and updates.Maintains and updates test server on a regular basis. This includes the removal of courses that have been updated and old courses that are no longer in use.
  • Create and publish company newsletters.
  • Assists Lead Specialists in researching new curriculum trends, the development of AP courses, and the development of lab science courses.
  • Assists in writing and submitting A-G list submissions
  • Communicates new resources for students and staff to support current curriculum.
  • Assists in planning and implementing staff development/training for staff of new courses, data interpretation, best practices, etc.
  • Participates as a part of the company team.
  • Assists with other functions and duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to cooperatively collaborate with a team in a timely, responsive manner to meet business needs and reach company goals.
  • Ability to independently take initiative and work efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to use technology effectively.
  • Ability to do formal presentations to staff and committees regarding curriculum.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining diplomacy, courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.
  • Excellent knowledge of company curriculum, and testing strategies.
  • Ability to travel as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum BA degree or equivalent required
  • Possession of a California Teaching Credential  required
  • Minimum 6 months company teaching experience preferred
