JOB TITLE: Coordinator– Technology Integration 

REPORTS TO: Director of Teaching and Learning 

WORK SCHEDULE: July 1- June 30, (260 days; 26 days paid vacation) 

SALARY: Per non-represented salary schedule 

JOB SUMMARY: Funded through the technology levy, the Coordinator for Technology Integration is a creative and dynamic leader charged with implementing a strategic vision in educational technology for the district. The individual will facilitate the district-wide integration of digital tools and best practices into curriculum and instruction. Both a big picture thinker and a hands-on implementer, the Coordinator engages with principals, teachers, support personnel, parents and students to create learning environments that fulfill the vision of the strategic plan.

 The individual must be a strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills, and the enthusiasm and credibility to create and sustain instructional momentum for technology integration and digital citizenship at the classroom level. The Coordinator must exhibit leadership experience and a history of effective classroom instruction to support principals and teachers in developing their skills and understanding of instruction in a technology-rich environment. The individual will ensure the implementation of district policies and procedures. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Leads the implementation of K-12 technology integration scope and sequence 

● Leads the implementation of a digital citizenship scope and sequence 

● Organizes professional learning across the system to support technology integration 

● Works with principals in organizing and strategizing leadership to create school cultures that embrace a technology-rich environment 

● Works with principals and teachers in supporting horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of instruction within and across schools 

● Remains up-to-date on the latest research in pedagogy and educational technology 

● Monitors and assesses effectiveness of technology integration district wide 

● Establishes, maintains and enhances effective communication with administrators, teachers, parents and other stakeholders 

● Represents the schools and district in interactions with parents, community, staff and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner 

● Works with communications staff to promote technology integration in District publications and videos 

● Demonstrates a commitment to personal professional growth and ethical standards to advance the mission, goals and policies of Anacortes School District 

● Performs other duties related to the improvement of student achievement 

● Maintains consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours 

● Complies with all district policies and procedures 

● Complies with the Code of Professional Conduct 

● Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

● Proven record of integrating technology in the classroom 

● Demonstrated experience as a leader in the development of curriculum and instructional programs and initiatives 

● Demonstrated ability to function successfully as a flexible, enthusiastic member of a team, with demonstrated skill in communication, problem-solving, and collaborative decision-making 

● Ability to present to large groups on occasion 

● Ability to involve students in meaningful, project-based learning experiences. 

● Understanding of Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, and the shifts in content and instructional practice 

● Participated in selection of standards with teacher and students 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

● Education and/or Experience: Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree. Preference will be given to applicant with a Washington State teaching certificate. Leadership experience in an educational setting. Minimum five years successful experience as a classroom teacher. Experience as an instructional coach in technology or other subject area. Experience with programs/initiatives/research in the area of closing the opportunity gap. Experience with programs/initiatives/research in the areas of equity and equality, diversity and inclusion, cultural competency, cultural awareness, cross cultural communication, and organizational change management. Experience in leading or coordinating equity, diversity, and inclusion, and/or cultural competency work in large organizations. Bilingual/Multilingual preferred. 

● Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality and possess an understanding of FERPA; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with children and public. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in leading, planning, promoting, and implementing instructional programs of significant complexity and impact 

● Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare general correspondence. 

● Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

● Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. 

● Computer Skills: Ability to operate a personal computer using Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of the common digital platforms that can be integrated to support student learning. 

● Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents, and members of the community. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions. Ability to take directions, assume responsibilities, complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent independent time management and organizational skills 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is confined to a work area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; and must be able to stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand for periods of time, and lift in order to assist a student with personal care. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges. 

EVALUATION: The Coordinator- Technology Integration shall be evaluated by the Director of Teaching and Learning pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee’s performance of the above essential job functions.
