The Instructional Content team supports BetterLesson to assert a bold and innovative point of view around the future of high-quality, impactful, and practical instruction. Our team is responsible for the creation and curation of a variety of teacher- and instructional coach-facing instructional content that supports the pedagogical vision of BetterLesson. This content drives the BetterLesson PD product that, in turn, supports thousands of teachers across the country who want to drive their own professional learning.

BetterLesson has published over 400 Instructional Strategies in our resource library. These strategies provide ready-to-use resources and step-by-step guidance to help education professionals grow in their practice. In the next 4 months, we will be tackling two strategy curation projects:

  • Publishing 100 instructional strategies focused on Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning in the BetterLesson lab.
  • Publishing 110 strategies in a partner's Learning Management System (LMS) as instructional playlists.

We are seeking someone with strong copy-editing, reading, and writing skills to help us publish these strategies so that teachers across the country can take advantage of our instructional resources.

You will focus on:

  1. Publishing 100 instructional strategies focused on Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning in the BetterLesson lab: Adding pre-written strategies to our web curation tool, copy-editing all strategies, ensuring strategies are formatted correctly, uploading and tagging relevant resources.
  2. Publishing 110 strategies in a partner's Learning Management System (LMS) as instructional "playlists": Revising and publishing instructional strategies in a new format; updating language to fit the partner's preferred terms and style; tagging appropriate resources and standards; uploading images and additional resources; copy-editing.

You are:

  • a clear and professional writer, with excellent spelling and grammar
  • open to feedback and revision as part of the writing process
  • detail-oriented and able to meet nuanced publishing style guidelines
  • able to take initiative and think creatively about how to support educators
  • comfortable working in Google suite and navigating new/unfamiliar online environments
  • interested in learning more about best practices in student-centered teaching
  • knowledgeable about K-12 teaching, either from school-based experience or secondary study

This is a temporary, part-time role and is expected to end on June 30, 2020 unless mutually agreed to extend based on business necessity.
