Community Manager (Contractor)

New Mission Ventures is looking for a dynamic independent contractor to serve as Mind Yeti’s Community Manager. This critical role will focus on building brand value by rallying a community of people—especially parents and teachers. The right person for this role is both a planner and a doer, and someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of building a community around a product, cause, or idea. An understanding of online communication strategy, including the use of social media and email marketing tools to build a community, is critical. You’ll need the ability to talk effectively with different customer segments, and be detail-oriented, since the content you create and manage will represent the face of the brand to customers. Most importantly, you’ve got to be excited about the Mind Yeti vision of helping kids use mindfulness to be their best selves.

This is the role for you if:

  • You have 5+ years of experience fostering a community around a brand, product, or cause. You can account for your successes and failures by referencing measurable outcomes and explaining your strategies and practices.
  • You write like you believe it. Your style is clear, concise, conversational, professional, and free of jargon.
  • You can create content, including designing and producing attractive gifs and memes using tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, and Final Cut.
  • You get parents and teachers and can speak their language
  • You speak social media fluently. You keep up with the latest channels and trends, and you understand how to use new tools to engage people in meaningful conversation.
  • Experience in consumer marketing, particularly to homes and families, is a plus.

Responsibilities (in order of priority):

  1. Develop and execute a strategy to grow and engage the Mind Yeti Community
  2. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Mind Yeti community, including social media, content development, outreach and communications, and events
  3. Create content for our owned channels, both on your own and with outside designers and writers when necessary
  4. Represent Mind Yeti at local, regional, and national events and conferences
  5. Plan and manage pilots and user testing as needed
  6. Organize, maintain, and grow customer contact lists
  7. Consult on marketing and product strategy as appropriate
  8. Other tasks as assigned
