Computer Science Teacher

Caliber Public Schools - Multiple Locations - Full time

Position Summary

We are looking for compassionate, exceptional educators to join our Computer Science Team! You’ll work collaboratively with your colleagues to drive the achievement of all students in your grade level. You will be encouraged and supported to lead engaging and rigorous lessons that integrate our four pillars: Heart, Smart, Think, and Act. You will use data to drive your instruction, regularly assessing student learning to ensure that each is engaged and learning. You'll equitably support the development of each child through restorative practices and social-emotional learning strategies. You will build meaningful relationships with families and work with them as partners towards each child’s overall success in school. You will also receive bi-weekly training and support through high-quality professional development and tailored one-on-one coaching.


  • Facilitate students’ mastery of academic standards through long-term planning, daily and weekly lesson plans, and execution of rigorous and engaging daily instruction.
  • High expectations for student behavior are clearly taught, consistently communicated, and equitably applied to all students.
  • Implement and support school-wide social-emotional programming and restorative practices.
  • Demonstrates an asset-based perspective of students from diverse backgrounds, using their experiences as resources for learning vs. excuses or problems to overcome.
  • Provides students opportunities to learn who they are and where they come from.
  • Consistently reflects on own biases/perceptions/ pedagogical practices and mitigates the negative impact on students through culturally responsive practices.
  • Facilitate a Blended Learning Model using technology tools as part of instruction. Develop expertise with technological tools that drive student learning.
  • Facilitate small group instruction with students working towards targeted outcomes.
  • Design and use assessment data to refine instructional practices and personalize learning for each student.
  • Consistently integrate coaching feedback.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Approach professional development with commitment and reflection.



  • Write and execute lessons designed to teach the fundamentals of computer science, technology fluency, and design thinking.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, interest in, and respect for diverse students’ communities and cultures in a manner that increases equity.
  • Develop and foster a motivational, respectful, and joyful classroom environment.
  • Create and implement high, clear expectations for student behavior and routines.
  • Implement and support school-wide social-emotional programming and restorative practices.
  • Consistently reflect on how your personal biases impact how you engage with staff, families, and students.
  • Engage in collaborative relationships with peers to learn and share best practices to ensure continuity in student learning.
  • Design projects and assessments that accurately and authentically capture student mastery of course goals.
  • During professional development and coaching, engage in critical reflection, continually revising practice to increase effectiveness.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues.


  • All candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree is a plus. All full-time Caliber teachers must have a valid California teaching license or willingness/eligibility to pursue state certification, if necessary.
  • Prior experience teaching, experience teaching in a low-income community, and a demonstrated ability to raise achievement levels of traditionally underserved students highly preferred.
  • Compensation: Salary is competitive with local district and partner charter organizations, and commensurate based on prior experience in education. Compensation at Caliber includes a comprehensive benefits package.


  • 2 or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a high performing school driving excellent student outcomes.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Preferred experience with social-emotional learning and restorative practices.
  • Experience integrating technology into the classroom.

Salary scales are based on years of experience and expertise. Scales are competitive with other charter school organizations and local districts.
