Community College Market Specialist - Western Region

zyBooks - Multiple Locations - Full time

zyBooks is seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated sales contributor to add to its talented team of professionals. This position has a high profile within the zyBooks organization. The Community College Market Specialist interacts with Chairs, Coordinators, Faculty and Instructors, and other key players within two-year and Community Colleges.

The Community College Market Specialist’s primary focus is to drive course, departmental, and divisional sales, sell-through and growth through extensive on-campus work at select Tier 1 Community Colleges nationally. The Community College Market Specialist is expected to travel extensively to call on national targets, especially during the height of the spring and fall selling seasons. Travel also includes regional and national conferences, sales meetings, and occasional visits to the corporate offices. The Community College Market Specialist will report to the Sr. Director of Sales.

As a ground floor and new position within the sales organization, the Community College Market Specialist will work with the Director of Sales and Strategic Accounts Managers at the regional level to analyze the business market opportunity and work to craft a segment market plan to improve market share and customer acquisition. And will be instrumental in the successful execution of the sales strategy internally and externally. The Community College Market Specialist will be expected to be a team player within the existing sales organization, and possess strong interpersonal and organizational relationship skills. The position requires a solid record of exceptional sales achievement in the higher education space.

Areas of Focus

Growth:

  • Determine which campus visits will best drive incremental growth.
  • Represent zyBooks on-campus visits to create new leads, move existing leads through the pipeline, and close business through presentations and face-to-face interaction.
  • Raise the profile of zyBooks within the region by securing meetings with key campus leaders including Chairs and key players within Campus Centers for Teaching & Learning.
  • Participate and lead sessions in national sales meetings, regional meetings, and regional conferences.
  • Provide post-adoption training and support for key adoptions.

Knowledge:

  • Develop deep product knowledge of zyBooks content, the zyBooks platform, and competitors.
  • Develop deep knowledge of academic trends and new technologies especially as they apply to community colleges.
  • Proven strong technical skills, including the ability to present educational technology learning programs to customers and use of organizational and CRM tools to manage the business.

Market Development & Sales Development:

  • Assist in identifying key customers that can play a role in advancing zyBooks content, platform, and user experience.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of regional meetings and national sales meetings.

Primary Objective:

To use all the strategies outlined above to meet revenue targets within the assigned region.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of sales experience in the industry preferred
  • A record of success in sales, with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed new business sales acquisition goals
  • Particular experience selling to STEM college-level faculty and administrators
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as an effective internal influencer and teammate
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.com
  • Highly motivated and organized. Ability to work independently and creatively
  • Ability to travel extensively during the active selling cycles (fall and spring)
  • A passion for making a difference in education

College Degree:

  • BS/BA degree Required

Desired Location:

California, preferably SF Bay Area or LA/SD area
