The Role

WritetheWorld.com is seeking an energetic person to join our small team in the role of Community and Development Manager. This is an exciting time to become part of the Write the World team as our reach and membership continues to grow worldwide. The ideal person for this role will be a creative thinker, organized and motivated, with excellent communication skills and a successful track record in Education (ideally with some background in the fields of Language Arts/Writing EdTech) as well as experience working directly with young people ages 13 to 18. As Community and Development Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and cultivating a vibrant and supportive culture within our online community. You will have knowledge of government policies and funding sources around education and will be charged with analyzing the EdTech and education market so we can best reach teachers, schools, districts and partners. You will work closely with the Executive Director to define goals for the company’s growth. You will attend events and conferences to market the company product, and will enjoy working collaboratively in a small, supportive team.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Cultivating a vibrant, thoughtful and supportive community on the site by monitoring the day-to-day running of the site and communicating with members.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with educators (both current and new members) to seek feedback and ensure an ideal experience for teachers using the site.
  • Work with the Executive Director and wider team to refine and expand the resources and features for educators using the platform.
  • Drive new membership to the site, both in the U.S. and internationally, with the potential to establish and develop a fee-based membership model.
  • Understand the challenges that school districts and teachers face and demonstrate how Write the World’s educational products and services can help to solve them.
  • Actively engage in business development activities including attendance at conferences and workshops.
  • Partner with our marketing team to design and leverage social media campaigns and data to generate leads and secure new product adoptions.
  • Achieve and track defined growth objectives for the company.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A passion for education and the desire to transform education worldwide.
  • A combination of education, teaching and EdTech experience (ideally within the fields of English/Language Arts).
  • Experience working with young people ages 13 - 18.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written). Must be confident and accustomed to liaising with, and maintaining relationships with, teachers and school administrators.
  • Proactive in identifying and developing new membership and growth opportunities for the company.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Energetic, self-starter with strong work ethic

Location: The position is located in Cambridge, MA

  • 20 hours per week with the potential to increase to full time.
