About the Position

Digital Promise Global’s Learner Positioning Systems™ (LPS) seeks a Communications Director to amplify the work and visibility of the Learner Positions Systems Initiative. Working with initiative and organization leadership, the Director will advance communication across potential partners and relevant audiences to support the success of LPS.

The Director will bring creativity, confidence, and substance in identifying sources of inspiration for LPS work, developing these sources into narratives and articulating these narratives confidently to a wide range of audiences.

Success in this role requires proven experience in adapting a core message across a diverse range of audiences, as well as simultaneously seizing opportunities for cross-sector collaboration. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills; the capacity to use data to execute at the granular level while keeping big-picture strategy in mind; a knack for building connections between people, teams, organizations, communities, and ideas; and significant experience developing inspiring narratives of social impact.

This is an exciting opportunity to join at the ground level of an emerging trend in personalized learning and to work with a nimble, entrepreneurial organization.

  • Catalyze and sustain productive, inspiring conversations across sectors among researchers, practitioners, developers, policymakers, and funders supporting LPS. This might include, but would not be limited to, identifying, attending, and reporting back on relevant sector-wide events, helping to organize webinars and calls to discuss LPS work, and communicate an LPS point of view on key developments in the field.
  • Generate positive awareness of the LPS vision and theory of change across relevant sectors and fields.
  • Identify and draft copy for web, blogs, campaigns, promotional materials, and social media
  • Collaborate with Digital Promise's Communications team to develop the content and rollout strategy for campaigns supporting LPS in ways consistent with the brand voice and guidelines of Digital Promise and Digital Promise Global

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English or related field; MBA, MPA, MPP, M.A., M.S. preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with C-level executives
  • Ability to represent the LPS Initiative at external meetings and with partners, clients and other key stakeholders when the CIO is unable to attend.
  • 5+ years' experience in content creation and working with an editorial team to develop and disseminate materials (web content, blogs, campaigns, promotional materials, social media posts, case studies, white papers, grant proposals and reports, etc.) that align with the AP style guide
  • Stellar interpersonal and communications skills (writing, verbal, and as a brand ambassador)
  • A passion for education and knowledge of its practices and policies. Knowledge of learning variability issues a plus.
  • Exemplary organizational skills and experience managing multi-faceted content projects
  • Ability to work entrepreneurially and independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
