The Job We are seeking a dynamic education business manager, with a proven record of sales and marketing success, to join our small team in the role of College Essay Program Executive Business Manager. This is an exciting time to join the Write the World team as our reach and membership continue to grow worldwide. The ideal person will be a creative thinker, organized and motivated, with excellent communication skills and a successful sales/marketing track record in the Edtech startup space (experience in the college admissions market essential). As College Essay Program Executive Business Manager, you will be responsible for promoting the college essay program to potential customers, aligning curriculum developed by Write the World educators with the market, and reaching sales targets. You will use your knowledge of the college essay market to target marketing opportunities that best reach parents, teachers, school districts, and strategic partners. You will attend events and conferences to market the program, and will be comfortable working independently.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with the wider team to refine and expand the college essay program and its curriculum as required.
  • Conduct research to determine key drivers in the college essay market and generate sales leads.
  • Develop marketing, media, and sales strategies to drive new customers to the program, including presenting workshops for teachers, guidance counselors, parents, and students.
  • Understand the challenges that students, parents, and teachers face in preparing for college and demonstrate how Write the World’s educational products and services can help to solve them.
  • Establish and maintain customer/sales lead database and manage all customer inquiries for the College Essay Program through all stages of the sales cycle.
  • Manage all scheduling and logistics for the program, including seasonal aspects of marketing and implementation of programming.
  • Actively engage in business development activities including attendance at conferences and workshops and the establishment of potential partnerships and organizations.
  • Set, achieve, and track defined growth objectives for the program.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A passion for writing and education, and the desire to transform education worldwide.
  • A combination of marketing, sales, and EdTech experience in the field of online startups (experience within the college admissions market essential).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an institutional and retail sales strategy for schools, guidance counselors, and parents.
  • Demonstrated experience selling EdTech programs and services to public and private schools nationally. (Selling EdTech to consumers and international sales experience a plus.)
  • Proactive in identifying and developing new customers and growth opportunities.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage general operations (including administration, scheduling and logistics).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written). Must be confident and accustomed to maintaining relationships with media, parents, and teachers.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Energetic, self-starter with strong work ethic.

20 - 25 hours per week with the potential to increase to full time. Some seasonality expected.

Compensation competitive with market, including both base and incentive payments.
