Green Dot is seeking a Cluster Business Manager to oversee operations, budgeting, and forecasting for a cluster of schools in and around Los Angeles. We need a problem solver who will own operational challenges so that principals and teachers can focus on educating students. There is always room for system improvements, and we want someone who will not just put out fires, but also identify ways to make operations more efficient and improve the effectiveness of our school services.

Green Dot Public Schools is a non-profit charter management organization driven by the mission to transform public education so that ALL students graduate prepared for college, leadership, and life. Green Dot operates 30 public schools in historically disadvantaged communities in Los Angeles, Tennessee and Washington. As one of the three largest charter management organizations in the nation, Green Dot schools consistently achieve outstanding academic outcomes through innovative college-preparatory curriculums, collaborative and personalized teaching methods, and strong support systems for both students and staff.

Outside of the classroom, Green Dot schools provide a rich array of after-school programs and services for students so that they have safe, educational and enjoyable opportunities after the bell rings. Additionally, Green Dot strongly believes in community empowerment. Schools regularly organize events that bring together students, parents, educators and political leaders to advocate for active civic engagement and unity. Since 1999, Green Dot has been a celebrated leader in closing discrepancies in access to high-quality educational opportunities regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status.


>The Cluster Business Manager will serve as the “COO” for a number of schools, typically five to seven, referred to at Green Dot as “cluster”

>Support Cluster Director (Area Superintendent) in running day-to-day, non-academic operations (e.g. finance, plant, IT, security, transportation)

>Assist principals in managing school budgets, analyzing year-to-date results, and forecasting end-of-year performance

>Serve as liaison between Home Office departments and schools to ensure implementation of best practices in school operations

>Develop and implement trainings for school site staff to maximize operational efficiency

>Lead special projects (e.g. school moving from temporary to permanent facility; improving attendance across schools)

>Assist the Chief Operating Officer and management team on special projects and initiatives as necessary


>Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred

>4+ years’ experience in a fast-paced, highly analytical professional environment. Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience managing school operations; charter school experience highly preferred

>2+ years’ experience managing others in a professional environment

>Strong financial acumen

>Experience designing and facilitating differentiated professional development sessions

>Ability to build collaborative, coordinated, and supportive relationships

>Ability to impact and influence stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization

>Demonstrates flexibility and innovation when faced with ambiguity

>Demonstrates creative problem solving skills

>Tenacity and a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve our mission

>Respect for team and the communities we serve

>A demonstrated passion for improving K-12 public education

Salary for this position will be within a range of $88,000 - $98,000 and depend on prior experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits plan as well as the opportunity to impact a growing, mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of all students.
