Chief Technology Officer

Write the World - Cambridge, Massachusetts or Remote - Full time

Position Summary:

Write the World seeks an experienced, entrepreneurial Chief Technology Officer with a proven track record of growing and efficiently scaling the operations and administration of Educational Technology businesses. As the CTO, you bring in-depth knowledge of technology systems and their role in driving product development, marketing, sales, and efficient administration of a company’s business. To drive the growth and adoption of Write the World’s interactive writing platform, you embody the qualities of an agile leader, innovator, and process-oriented planner. You inspire creativity and collaboration, and are committed to delighting our customers.

Responsibilities:

● Work directly with Executive leadership to develop and manage Write the World’s technology to support its mission and new business opportunities.

● Plan and direct all aspects of technology practices, processes, and initiatives according to the strategic plan.

● Lead the development and implementation of technology solutions to drive the growth and administration of the business.

● Spearhead the technology design for new products and facilitate their entry into markets.

● Manage the use of technology platforms in relationships with third party business partners.

● Supervise software testing and information systems security and maintenance.

● Manage and advise the technology team, including responsibilities for Web application, software development and maintenance for existing and new products.

● Foster a success-oriented workplace environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and innovation.

● Establish cooperative relationships with other companies in the education market.

● Represent Write the World through direct contacts with current and potential customers and partners.

● Maintain current knowledge of industry events, trends, and influencers.

● Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

● 3+ years of relevant CTO leadership experience in the educational technology software industry/consumer SaaS realm, highly preferred

● Strong educational background with technology-related degree.

● Passion for education and a desire to transform education worldwide.

● Direct experience in development and management of K-12 educational technology products.

● Deep understanding of technology standards for integration, security and privacy within the K-12 institutional setting.

● Proven success in managing internal and outsourced IT Teams and scaling complex operations.

● Experience in technology-focused sales and/or marketing.

● Strong management and mentoring skills, with ability to hold others accountable.

● Demonstrated ability to maintain a strong, mission-driven culture while adapting to rapidly changing markets.

● Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, both in-person and remotely.

● Expert analytical skills, including modeling and forecasting.

● Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and writing skills.

● Ability to think outside the box on complex issues and implement creative solutions.

Location: Cambridge, MA, USA (remote candidates with relevant experience will also be considered)

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
