The DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). DC PCSB is an independent government agency of the District of Columbia and the sole charter school authorizer in the nation’s capital. Collectively, DC’s charter schools educate nearly half of DC’s public school students. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an equity-focused, results-oriented, and experienced organizational change leader to manage the finance, systems, and technology operations for DC PCSB. The COO’s work will support the agency’s mission to ensure that DC public charter schools are environments where all students, especially those in historically marginalized groups, thrive.

A member of the executive team and an organizational leader, the incoming COO will lead the Finance, Systems, and Operations team, which includes general operations, finance, IT, knowledge management, and data engineering. Through their leadership, the COO will ensure that all staff have the resources and information needed to do their jobs well, and that internal systems are clear and easy to navigate. The incoming COO will provide strategic leadership to the finance team, whose portfolio includes internal financial operations and oversight of all DC public charter school finances. Additionally, the COO will provide strategic guidance to and assess and update important internal systems and structures, including IT, knowledge management, and data engineering. The next COO must have a strong track record of process-oriented managerial experience, preferably within the education field and with an understanding of DC government structures and policies.
