The DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief of Staff (COS). DC PCSB is an independent government agency of the District of Columbia and the sole charter school authorizer in the nation’s capital. Collectively, DC’s charter schools educate nearly half of DC’s public school students. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an equity-minded, mission-focused, and results-oriented leader to join the organization during a period of growth and momentum. The COO will lead the talent management and strategic initiatives that enable DC PCSB to carry out its mission—that DC public charter schools are environments where all students, especially those in historically marginalized groups, thrive.

A member of the Executive Team, the inaugural Chief of Staff, working closely with the Executive Director (ED), will build and maintain a culture that creates the conditions for DC PCSB staff to succeed in their work. The COS will lead the organization’s ongoing race, equity, diversity, and inclusion (REDI) work and embed and operationalize this work into the agency’s culture, strategic, and talent goals. The COS will bring past experiences with human resources and talent management to create a strong and effective staff culture and support the ED and the executive team in building and implementing the systems necessary to create this culture. The incoming COS will direct organizational initiatives and coordinate activities across the agency to ensure efficiency and alignment among teams. Finally, the Chief of Staff will cultivate and enhance DC PCSB staff’s important relationships with the Board, external partners, and stakeholders.
