College Track is a college completion program that empowers students from underserved communities to graduate from college. Serving over 2,400 high school and college students in East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Francisco, New Orleans, Colorado, Los Angeles, and Sacramento, ninety-four percent of College Track high school seniors have been accepted to four-year colleges and their college students are graduating at a rate that is 2.5 times the national average for low-income students.

From the summer before ninth grade through college graduation, College Track’s 10-year program removes barriers that prevent students from earning their college degree by providing them with comprehensive academic support, leadership training, financial and college advising, and scholarships. College Track is seeking a strong manager with knowledge of the K-12 education sector and experience in a complex, multi-site organization to serve as its first Chief of Regions (CoR). The CoR will supervise College Track’s Regional Executive Directors and Vice President of Programs, ensuring that the organization is delivering on its promise of dramatically increasing college access and persistence for the students it serves. The ideal CoR candidate will have: a passion for College Track’s mission; a track record of achieving high levels of outcomes for students and results in fundraising efforts; experience managing senior managers; and the skills to build and maintain high-functioning systems across multiple sites and geographies.


Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Executing against College Track’s vision for success, including ensuring that its academic programs, support services delivery, community engagement, and external partnerships are highly effective and tightly aligned to the organization’s mission and goals;
  • Managing Executive Directors and senior program staff by acting not only as a supervisor but also as a coach and consensus builder; able to develop and bring out other leaders’ strengths while holding them accountable for their goals and desired student outcomes;
  • Partnering with the CEO and Board of Directors as needed to secure and allocate the resources necessary to maintain the success of College Track’s regional teams;
  • Inspiring senior leaders and staff to be their best selves every day, always keeping the organization’s moral and ethical compass pointing in the right direction and ensuring an unyielding focus at all times on what is best for College Track’s students and their futures.


The Successful Chief of Regions Candidate Will Be:

  • An accomplished leader with a minimum of 10 years demonstrated success as a school-based administrator, nonprofit executive and/or senior manager that ensures outstanding outcomes for the students they serve.
  • Inspiring in their management style, with experience leading leaders; one who sees the possibility in all adults and is willing to devote time to coach and develop them while holding them accountable to measurable results.
  • Experienced as an Executive Director or similar senior management position within a complex, multi-site organization, knowledgeable about best practices around organizational growth and program expansion.
  • Self-reflective, someone who understands the effects of race, class, ethnicity, income, and other issues of difference in our society and has personally worked with similar communities to ensure all students have an opportunity to attend and graduate a four year college.
  • Knowledgeable about the importance of socio-emotional supports for students and the development of their non-cognitive skills as a path to achievement and career success.
  • Skilled in strategic planning, project management, and organization; able to focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the details.
