To learn more, visit to the co-CEO, the Chief Advancement Officer(CAO) will serve as a member of DREAM's Executive Team. In concertwith the co-CEO, the CAO will create, implement, and drive acomprehensive fundraising strategy, focusing on institutional,corporate, and individual donors (including major donors andprospects).The CAO will have the exciting opportunity to manage abest-in-class advancement program that raises over $20 millionannually through a combination of major gifts, corporatesponsorships, institutional giving and fundraising events. Theywill lead an experienced fundraising team charged with maintainingand evolving DREAM's innovative approach to increasing revenue andin-kind support to fulfill the organization's mission. The CAO willalso work closely with the co-CEO and Board of Directors to drive acapital campaign for DREAM's ambitious next phase of growth.Roles and Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with the co-CEO, lead the advancement team bycreating and implementing a comprehensive, multi-year, data-drivenfundraising strategy aligned with the organization's goals andpriorities in partnership with the MD of Advancement Strategy &Operations and MD of Communications and Brand;
  • Establish and drive progress towards long- and short-rangedevelopment goals in conjunction with DREAM's strategic plan;
  • Serve as an expert on DREAM's mission and model, communitypartners, and strategic direction in order to drive advancementefforts;
  • Oversee and prioritize the identification and development offuture revenue streams, allocation of resources, and analysis ofcurrent efforts to drive continuous improvement inadvancement;
  • Represent DREAM to various external constituents (i.e.,individual donors, corporations, foundations, funding agencies,government agencies, etc.);
  • Work closely with DREAM's Board and Ambassadors to inspiregreater participation with fundraising efforts, capitalizing on theresources, talents, and networks that the Board and Ambassadorsoffer and providing coaching and training as needed;
  • Drive the stewardship of both the Board of Directors andAmbassadors as well as the recruitment of new members with an eyetowards diversifying with a focus on age, race, gender, ethnicityand profession;
  • Motivate, coach, and manage the advancement team to ensureprofessional growth and attainment of team-wide and individualgoals;
  • Serve as a member of DREAM's Executive Team and leverage thedepartments, teams, and programs that the team represents as acultivation tool for donors, foundations, and other partnersinterested in supporting our mission;
  • Steward and grow the pipeline of major gift donors,consistently reviewing and replenishing the pipeline to facilitatedonor growth and engagement;
  • Manage a portfolio of individual and corporate donors,including the direct solicitation of major gifts and plannedgiving;
  • Advance the institutional giving strategy including managingkey relationships with philanthropic leaders and overseeing aninstitutional giving team that identifies, cultivates, and sustainsmulti-year foundation partnerships that provide long-termsustainability for the organization;
  • With the co-CEO, oversee the planning, execution, and follow-upto virtual and (eventually) in-person fundraising events. With theteam, continue to monitor evolving post-COVID event guidelines andcreate sound event strategies for DREAM;
  • Partner with the Managing Director of Advancement Strategy &Operations in fundraising operations that enhance agencyoperations, with a particular focus on alignment between thedevelopment and finance teams;
  • Develop and manage the Advancement Team's budget ensuring thatfunds are spent efficiently and effectively in support of DREAM'smission;
  • Monitor key fundraising innovations and philanthropic issuesand provide recommendation actions to the co-CEO to continueevolving DREAM's advancement strategy;
  • Reinforce a culture of philanthropy among all staff, volunteersand donors;
  • Support and partner with the co-CEOs and Board of Directors inother fundraising-related initiatives as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree, required; master's degree in relevant field,preferred;
  • A track record of success in achieving ambitious fundraisingand/or goals on the ground and through leadership of a team,including through personally cultivating, soliciting, and securinggifts or revenue;
  • A strategic thinker with a relentless focus on improvingsystems, coordinating efforts, using data to drive decision makingand an unwavering commitment to reaching goals;
  • A working knowledge of the New York City funding community,including its leaders and trends;
  • Ability to influence and compel individuals to action toachieve objectives, both internally and externally;
  • A high level of emotional intelligence and the ability toquickly build trust and develop authentic relationships;
  • An ability to excel within a dynamic team setting;
  • An exemplary reputation with stature and credibility;
  • Proven ability for bringing together different departmentswithin an organization to work together toward a shared vision andgoals;
  • An ability to secure funding from diverse sources – includingmajor donors, foundations, and corporations;
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage government support. Successdesigning and managing comprehensive campaigns to secure bothoperating and capital funding;

  • Flexibility and a proven ability to innovate and find creativesolutions to challenges;
