In a growing number of communities across the country, ConnectEd partners with communities and school districts to design and implement systems of Linked Learning pathways that prepare all students for lasting success in further education and career. ConnectEd supports the design and implementation of high quality college and career pathways in secondary schools, as well as the development of district policies to expand and sustain Linked Learning's impact.

Our History

ConnectEd was founded in 2006 with a grant from The James Irvine Foundation. We are dedicated to advancing practice, policy, and research aimed at helping young people prepare for both college and career through Linked Learning, which engages students by making education relevant.

Linked Learning combines rigorous academics, demanding technical education, personalized student supports, and real-world experience. It is delivered within career pathways, which are organized around 21st-century themes such as digital media arts, engineering, green energy, health sciences, and law and justice.

ConnectEd played a key role in developing and launching Linked Learning as a demonstration project with nine California school districts that serve primarily low-income students. In addition, ConnectEd has partnered with a growing number of communities in other states—including Boston, Detroit, Houston, Madison, and Rochester to name a few—to expand the adoption and implementation of Linked Learning nationally.

We provide a variety of services such as planning for school district administrators, coaching and training for teachers and teacher support specialists, integrated project and assessment development tools and trainingfor teachers,, and a variety of digital tools to support work-based learning and Linked Learning pathway development and quality

Position Summary:

The Chief Advancement Officer is responsible for shaping and implementing a newly expanded development effort aimed at significantly increasing ConnectEd's annual funding. As an $8 million organization, ConnectEd currently enjoys a diversified funding stream that includes major foundation and government grants, corporate support, and some individual donations. Reporting to and working closely with ConnectEd's President and Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, this Chief Advancement Officer is responsible for leading a comprehensive development function, including planning, organizing, and directing all fundraising; developing and writing grants, and managing a distributed grant-writing function; leading the major gifts program; managing the annual fund; designing and managing special events; and overseeing potential capital campaigns. The Chief Advancement Officer also works closely with ConnectEd's Vice President/ Chief Operating Officer, several other Program Directors, and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.

The Chief Advancement Officer will be a bold thinker as well as a strategic, yet 'hands-on' executor, who will help ConnectEd maximize the organization's philanthropic giving and fundraising. As a member of the leadership team, s/he will bring a genuine passion for ConnectEd's mission coupled with deep experience driving fundraising success. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree preferred.
