About the role

New Classrooms is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to help design the products and services which power our Teach to One personalized education program. This person will work to understand stakeholder needs in order to help establish and improve the algorithms that drive how students progress through their personalized curriculum and improve the platforms that students and teachers utilize to experience Teach to One.

The Technical Business Analyst will interact at a senior level across departments turning solution ideas into clearly documented product and service designs, and then collaborate with engineers and QA to develop technical documentation of those products. This role represents a tremendous opportunity to have both strategic and tactical impact on some of New Classrooms’ most important assets.

What you will do

  • Engage various New Classrooms stakeholder groups to understand and document the root cause of the problem or issue that requires resolution
  • Design products and services to solve the most pressing problems and issues facing the organization in the areas of scheduling students, managing student curriculums, creating and delivering assessments, measuring student success, and delivering program information to students and teachers via a web portal
  • Elicit functional requirements from various New Classrooms stakeholder groups for a given solution
  • Collaborate with engineers to write and own technical documentation for the products supporting Teach to One
  • Manage trade-offs by understanding the different needs and perspectives of New Classrooms stakeholder groups
  • Develop a deep understanding of the functionality and technical implementation of the products supporting Teach to One to serve as a consultant for other internal teams in the management and resolution of bugs, enhancements, and feature requests
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop new or modified product/service designs that can support more efficient internal operations
  • Partner with other BAs within the Technical Design team to make sure that all of the products/services supporting Teach to One are providing a holistic, quality experience for students, teachers, and New Classrooms stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement efforts of the products/services supporting Teach to One and the software development process at New Classrooms

What we are looking for

  • 3-5+ years of background in functional and technical design, requirements analysis, and documentation
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to collect, organize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with accuracy and extraordinary attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills, are needed to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to comprehend and adjust very complex systems, while pushing for simplicity when applicable
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment managing cross-departmental requirements and issue resolution
  • Self-starter that is comfortable taking on responsibility and dealing with ambiguity
  • Confidence / poise to plan and lead stakeholder needs meetings and group solutioning sessions
  • Preferred experience with/in:-Data-centric algorithms and/or rule based systems and/or user experience design-Agile software development-Atlassian JIRA and Confluence-Advanced use of Excel / Google Sheets and SQL
