Role Overview

As a Business Development Manager you will play a critical role in scaling our revenue generation strategy, enabling us to upskill NGOs and social enterprises in under-resourced communities worldwide. Our team is international, diverse and some of the most inspirational, tenacious and committed people you can imagine. Your work will support the growth engine of our organization and ultimately lead to impacting thousands of other social impact organizations around the globe.You will report to the VP of Partnerships. This is a Full-time role based in Oakland, California. 


  • Own a segment of the organization’s revenue generation funnel.
  • Develop your own go-to-market strategy to execute.
  • Build and manage a $3M pipeline.
  • Close 2-3 new partnerships/quarter to support our mission and drive our growth.
  • Manage a small group of closed partners with quarterly reports and calls.

Your day to day responsibilities will cover the following:


  • Creatively and quickly define your own strategy to close Bay Area partners interested in upskilling nonprofits.
  • Develop and implement tools and processes to scale your success.
  • Codify your learnings and pivot quickly when needed.


  • Build a robust pipeline of leads to set yourself up for success.
  • Systematically qualify (or disqualify) leads by searching for true alignment between our strengths and partner priorities.
  • Manage deals through each stage from qualification to closing, making sure to maintain momentum and coordinate cross-functionally when needed.



  • Desire to set stretch goals and figure out your own strategy to meet them.
  • Flexibility and openness to change and scrappy startup culture.
  • Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple open partnerships at once, making sure to juggle multiple deadlines with ease.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present to and negotiate with partners and craft decks and succinct written proposals.
  • Expertise and comfort being externally-facing with high-level leaders and stakeholders across geographies, sectors, and organizational types.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and data-informed strategic thinking
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%)
  • Exceptional project management abilities.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business development background with a track record of closing six and seven figure deals. Or the desire to learn how to!
  • Familiarity with the ed tech space.
  • Demonstrated experience with resource generation from multiple sources including individuals, corporations, and foundations, with a progressively-increasing track record of success.
  • Experience with Salesforce.
