At the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning (CTTL), you can put this passion to work to grow our industry-changing online methodology called Neuroteach Global. Your strength in partnering with educational institutions and teachers will transform the effectiveness of the teacher-student relationship. As a result of completing our micro-courses, 91% of teachers gain a better understanding of neuroscience, and 70% immediately implement neuroscience practices into their teaching.

Neuroteach Global is an idea whose time has come and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Omidyar Foundation agree, voting their confidence with a healthy investment to spur our startup’s growth. In 2017, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative challenged the CTTL to leverage technology in order to deliver its in-person program for MBE Science of Learning translation and integration. With the Neuroteach Global app, we offer an experiential journey to understanding the latest in MBE research for teachers.

About the role

At the CTTL, we are seeking a Business Development Manager to help drive the recent success of Neuroteach Global. This role requires a skilled salesperson who knows about education, e-learning, teacher training alternatives, and the current state of technology in continuing education to acquire new customers and seek out opportunities to upsell existing users/clients. You should possess a strong track record of effective sales as a result of being an effective listener to customer needs. The Business Development Manager role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of experience selling to private K-12 institutions and public school systems in a wide variety of geographies with proven success. Experience working with educators and administrators, especially in a sales capacity is highly desirable, as is a successful track record selling products and services with multi-month sales cycles. Experience leading the initiation of a successful sales effort in a tech-startup, especially ed-tech and/or a SaaS (subscription) model is ideal.

Although we’d love to have someone local to the DC area, we are very open to working with remotely located(but within the US) professionals with a track record of high performance in a remote work context.

The Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning (CTTL) is the country’s only non-profit pre-collegiate, school-based research center that is designing and delivering professional development informed by research in MBE science research to enhance teacher quality, improve student outcomes, and develop the whole child. Neuroteach Global is the latest innovation in MBE science from the CTTL.

What do we need you to do well?

  • Bring new ideas about elevating the current work of the CTTL and the sales of Neuroteach.
  • Prompt and timely outreach to free trial clients (~800) and conversion of a large percentage into one of the available packages.
  • Establishment of a robust prospect list and new lead generation strategy.
  • Rapidly response to website leads that are deftly converted to sales.
  • Demonstrate effective and efficient prospect outreach through various channels, noting what works best and continually improving methods.
  • Cultivate a growing stream of upselling opportunities and facilitate effective negotiations.
  • Align sales messaging and lead generation activities with digital marketing strategies.
  • Maintain lines of communication between this role, Co-Founders of Neuroteach,and other key team members.
  • Provide noteworthy representation of Neuroteach at presentations and sales events.
  • Think strategically about ways to market and sell Neuroteach Global in-print, virtually, or in-person

What expertise is important to the work you'll do?

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on listening to and translating customer needs
  • Familiarity with various CRMs & Lead generation tools
  • Ability to explain high-tech solutions to those unfamiliar or uncomfortable with them
  • Demonstrated knowledge/practice of various sales techniques
  • Familiarity with public, public charter and private school systems/market
  • Able to describe various education tech platforms and products currently on the market
  • Familiarity with education tech market
  • Able to identify major competitors in the marketplace and understand the roles their products fill
  • Accustomed to working remotely with limited day-to-day support
