The Associate Product Manager serves as a product owner, working directly on ANet's Product Team and working in close collaboration with the Engineering Team as well as stakeholders across ANet's Program Operations and regional teams. They are responsible for defining functional requirements across multiple products with input and direction from Product Managers and other business stakeholders. They will write tickets, create user stories, and draft high-level acceptance criteria with the input of the Engineering Team. Additionally, they help drive UX/UI work and write and maintain end-user documentation. This person will represent the needs of both our internal users and school partners to ensure we are prioritizing the right work which will maximize our impact on the school partners we serve. The Associate Product Manager will join ANet's growing Product Team and report to the Vice President, Product.

ANet has several platforms that enable equitable instruction which the Associate Product Manager may support including:

The Assessment Delivery System enables students to take online assessments and quizzes.

The Assessment Development Tool is used by our internal content team to create our rigorous formative assessments, delivered through the Assessment Delivery System.

The Quiz Tool is built to enable teachers to create short-cycle assessments.

MyANet is a teacher- and leader-facing web application that provides interim assessment data reports, standards-based resources, and a portal to support online test administration.


Attend daily Engineering standup/scrums and communicate internally any changes in prioritization, context about the sprint, and/or specific tickets

Author clear acceptance criteria and test cases for new tickets and features

Manage ticket triage to ensure tickets are assigned to the right board and get estimated in a timely manner ahead of sprint planning

Document story details based on the epics after reviewing with development team

Document the new feature for implementations and release notes

Prioritize and groom the backlog with input from stakeholders

Serve as a resource for developers to provide context around user stories and acceptance criteria

Act as direct liaison with stakeholders from program and operations teams to optimize cross-team workflows

Collaborate with Engineering on sprint planning to keep project backlogs well-groomed and ensure the Engineering Team is working on the highest-priority tickets

Proactively resource plan and communicate release timelines, bugs, and other issues to stakeholders in a timely manner

Help to maintain a healthy workload across engineers, both internal at ANet and external (e.g., vendors such as Aveniros)

Partner with stakeholders to create mockups and wireframes of product UI

Assist with with usability testing and end-user product research


In order to be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

You have a passionate commitment to and a sense of urgency for the support of schools, along with a belief that all students can achieve at high levels

You have 3-4 years of direct experience as a technical product owner and are adept at leading engineering teams in an agile software development process to release both new products and feature enhancements to existing products

You are a strong project manager who knows how to manage complex technical projects across a diverse set of colleagues that include some level of ambiguity; you are able to anticipate engineering resource needs across multiple projects by building strong lines of communication with engineers and engineering managers

You are skilled at communicating directly with engineers, are able to communicate highly technical topics to a non-technical audience, and are skilled at technical writing and documentation

You are comfortable engaging directly with end users, are able to quickly develop empathy for users, and incorporate feedback from key stakeholders and senior product managers to drive prioritization at the sprint and story level

You thrive in environments that are highly collaborative and where you have opportunities to leverage your curiosity and learning orientation to improve existing systems and processes

Ideal candidates may also demonstrate the following preferred qualifications:

You bring prior experience working within the education sector, particularly in the K-12 space

You have experience and/or are comfortable doing QA analysis on software products
