Products are delivered through unique platforms, including 1) our online platform that offers self-paced learning experiences grounded in interactive, real world problem solving, and 2) HBX Live, a one-of-a-kind virtual classroom that allows participants worldwide to interact in real-time with one another and a faculty member much as they would in a traditional HBS case classroom.

HBX seeks an Associate Product Manager to manage the launch of new courses and ongoing product lifecycle and delivery. Reporting to the Director of Product Management and working in close collaboration with Marketing, Course Development, Strategic Alliance, and Program Services teams, this role will focus on the following areas:

Market & Customer Awareness

  • Performs market research through surveys, interviews and internet search to help inform product launch strategy including target market, positioning, key benefits and pricing
  • Analyzes user needs to inform product decisions
  • Researches the competitive landscape to identify gaps and opportunities for the HBX programming portfolio; keeps the team informed on new players entering the market, competitive benchmarks, and relevant trends
  • Based on research, identifies and implements product opportunities, new markets, and channels to help support the growth of the product

Product Lifecycle

  • Participates in portfolio planning and contributes to the product vision, roadmap and scaling requirements
  • Assembles customer surveys and feedback; analyzes results to help define and prioritize new features and drivers for success
  • Manages the lifecycle of seasoned products cross-functionally and collaboratively to ensure all teams are coordinated and sequenced for successful product updates and continued iterations

Product Delivery

  • Assembles product brief/overall strategy for new products, as well as go-to-market plan, working with faculty, content, marketing and strategic alliances teams
  • Acts as liaison with program services on participant engagement & communications, admissions criteria and program delivery strategy & execution for the hand-off of new courses. Serve as the primary point of contact on the product-side for any ongoing questions or template revisions.

Business Development & Operations

  • Assists Director, Strategic Alliances & Initiatives to foster relationships with institutions/companies that could leverage or promote the products with their customers, employees or clients
  • Attends product demos as requested by the Director, Strategic Alliances as a representative of the product
  • Works with marketing to create collateral and tools for institutional customers and to enable the sales team
  • Help set-up a product-based onboarding process working in close collaboration other HBX teams; participate in ongoing process refinement and strategy to improve customer feedback, and participate in execution as required. 

Metrics & Reporting

  • Responsible for defining and reporting on metrics to analyze product success and use rates; drafts presentations on product metrics, objectives, success and strategy in coordination with the Sr. Product Manager
  • Works in collaboration with data management practice to prioritize, collect and execute on analytics

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS required
  • 5-7 years prior product management or other related strategy experience such as CPG brand management

Additional Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred
  • An ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal audiences (e.g. senior faculty, software engineers, marketing managers) and external audiences (e.g. prospective customers or partners) is critical.
  • Experience conducting research, gathering information from many sources, filtering what is most important, and synthesizing findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Previous experience with modeling and preparing presentations and/or advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
  • The ideal candidate is a self-starter who not only identifies challenges, but also recommends solutions and creatively gets things done; must pro-actively look for ways to add value and help the team meet established goals; experience with sales and/or client relations; eager to learn and contribute to the learning of the team.
