Associate, Individual Giving

Teach For America - San Francisco, California - Full time

Reports To: Director, Individual Giving

Status: Non-Exempt

As the Associate of Individual Giving on the Bay Area Development team, you will play a critical role in building a community of individual supporters who are deeply connected to our effort to double the number of great schools serving our low-income students and students of color by 2025. You will report to the Director of Individual Giving, and collaborate with the Manager of Individual Giving, Senior Managing Director of External Affairs, and Executive Director to execute a strategy to deepen engagement with current supporters and cultivate new champions in our flagship fundraising campaign, Sponsor A Teacher. You will manage all operations related to this portfolio, including event planning, prospecting, drafting written communications, and database management and analysis. You will contribute to the success of the Individual Giving team and entire Development team by raising critical funds and growing our pipeline of champions, ultimately helping the region meet its programmatic and financial goals to execute our long term strategy.

You are obsessed with details. You notice things other people don’t, and you understand which details must be perfect. There’s something you love about personalizing a note with a small detail, remembering a donor’s beloved pet’s name, proofreading a final document, or making sure that data is aligned across different reports – you love finding and catching those critical points because you believe that details matter.

You are a superb executor and project manager. You have a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and an ability to balance execution of short-term/urgent tasks with long-term project management. You understand how your daily actions align with your longer-term ambitious goals and can balance between the two, regardless of the day-to-day chaos you might find yourself in. Your customer-service orientation enables you to respond to urgent needs with grace, flexibility, and a commitment to quality.

You prioritize relationships. You believe that strong, authentic relationships are critical to build meaningful experiences for current and potential supporters. You seek to discover the motivations of people and tailor your messages, actions and interactions accordingly. You naturally notice connections among people (donors, teachers, partners, teammates) and feel joy when you can leverage those connections to grow a person’s commitment to our mission.

You are self-driven and dedicated to continuous improvement. You take personal responsibility for the quality of your work and hold yourself to an exceptionally high bar. No matter what the day throws at you, you adjust course and view each experience as an opportunity to learn and improve. You enjoy identifying root causes to improve our systems and processes. You consistently seek and implement feedback as part of your personal and professional journey.

You are a utility player. You're willing to help out wherever needed and thrive in a face-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
