Minerva’s Professional Development Agency prepares students for long-term success, enabling them to be immediate and effective contributors in their chosen fields. With dedicated teams for coaching, employer network growth and recruitment, and publicity, the Professional Development Agency dramatically improves upon the career services found at other universities.

More specifically, the employer network team is focused on identifying exciting, productive, and relevant opportunities for students and organizations alike. By building and maintaining active connections with top employers across disciplines, the team provides an extensive global pipeline of project-based, internship and employment opportunities across the spectrum of private- and public-sector organizations.

The Role

The Employer Network Associate will join a nimble Professional Development Agency team that plays an essential role identifying career opportunities for Minerva students and partnership opportunities for the Minerva Schools at KGI. This individual will help support operations for our unique Professional Development Agency model. The Associate’s core responsibility is to identify and scope paid project opportunities that Minerva students can complete during the school year from the cities in Minerva’s global rotation (for this year, that means San Francisco, Seoul and Hyderabad). You will manage these relationships with the goal of scaling work/study opportunities and unlocking summer internships. . The Professional Development Agency team prides itself on being highly efficient and collaborative, positive, responsive, and creative in its approach to solving complex problems.

This is not a traditional career services role. As many of our processes are new, this position offers an opportunity to help design and create innovative internship and work study partnership models and requires collaboration with stakeholders across the Minerva Schools, from academics to financial aid to outreach staff, and briefing senior team members on projects critical to institutional goals. Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver plan for securing paid opportunities for 100+ students to perform work/study during the 2017-18 academic year from San Francisco; Seoul, Korea; and Hyderabad, India.
  • Establish partnerships model, user flow and administrative process for partners, students, and staff
  • Coordinate and deliver compelling presentations to initiate new partnerships
  • Maintain and builds rapport with Employer network partners to formulate strong, long term relationships built on trust
  • Ensure consistency, confidentiality, and adherence to the highest professional and ethical standards of university partnerships and engagement
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Minerva’s program and differentiators, as well as contract management parameters, policies and procedures

Skills & Personal Characteristics

Desired:

  • Experience with partnership/business development and/or consulting
  • The ability to effectively and persuasively communicate with business leaders and academics across cultures
  • Comfort interacting with a variety of internal stakeholders including staff across functions, faculty, Minerva students and applicants
  • Comfort using and learning new technology; tech-savvy and eager to adopt new tools and productivity processes
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak professional development activity periods
  • Excellent English language reading and writing skills for correspondence, reports, and projects

Preferred:

  • The ability to identify company challenges, and experience scoping projects with clear deliverables in close collaboration with partners
  • Business development experience in higher education/ ed tech space
  • Interest in collecting and analyzing data to inform decisions
  • Multilingual and/or international experience
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • A passion for mentorship and helping students grow personally and professionally
  • Managerial experience or desire to learn
  • Knowledge of international education systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a selective university
  • At least 2-3 years of work experience
