This position is ideal for you if you are excited to join a rapidly growing organization, and eager to use your strong instructional expertise to develop others, and manage your team to success.

WHAT YOU’LL TAKE ON

The Founding ADP exists to help us grow our programmatic reach and impact. You will do this by raising the rigor of our curricula, implementing a thoughtful standard of performance for your regional team, and supporting the creation of a scalable program team model that can carry us into the next stage of our growth. Reporting to the CEO, the Founding ADP is charged with leading and managing a team, and being a strong individual contributor in order to plan, manage, and execute multiple Code2College programs across several regional high schools.

By June 30, 2021, you will have:

  • Worked in collaboration with the CEO and Code2College team to grow the programs from having served 1,000 students to date to an additional 1,000 students
  • Used your expertise to support the creation of a scalable program team model that helps Code2College move from serving 2 regions to supporting 4 regions
  • Successfully managed and developed a team of up to 6 program staff to ensure at least 90% student retention across programs

Additionally, you will:

  • Manage and coach a team of 6 program staff who each manage a portfolio of student participants and volunteers across several regions
  • Assess program staff performance through observation and feedback to advance instructional competence and effectiveness
  • Coach and build the instructional coaching skill of staff by providing high leverage feedback and instructional support
  • Review and refine curricula to optimize content and identify engagement opportunities
  • Track and analyze program performance data to identify meaningful and actionable insights regarding programmatic effectiveness, and to identify and act on areas for improvement
  • Serve as a thought partner and leader to map out new and existing curricula and programming that meets our partners’ current and future needs
  • Collaborate with the CEO and other members of the Code2College team to co-create a scalable program team model that supports the growth and sustainability of the organization
  • Create and codify systems and content to help the organization to scale and operate with efficiency
  • Establish and leverage relationships with student participants, volunteer instructors, and other stakeholders to cultivate a sense of community within and across programs

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

We are looking for someone who is excited to use their people management and project management skills to help create opportunities for low-income and underrepresented students.

  • You bring a proven history of results. You have coached educators on instructional practices. You can speak to the role you played and the strategies and actions employed to achieve strong learning outcomes through data-driven instruction.
  • You love to develop people and teams to get the best results. You see yourself as a coach and are invested in the growth and development of your team.
  • You lead with inquiry and curiosity. You take the time to build context and understand “the why” of the work. You thrive in ambiguity, and you create your own clarity by asking critical questions to get the information you need.
  • You prioritize outcomes over inputs and “why” over “what.” You are driven by goals and data, and you see outcomes as your north star. You consistently align yourself to the “why” of the work to determine the how and the what.
  • You are solutions-oriented. You look for the root cause and move others toward solutions through innovative problem solving. You know how to identify pain points and improve on work, while honoring the work of those before you.
  • You are culturally competent. You have worked with underrepresented communities and you have a history of effectively working across lines of difference. Your actions reflect that you are deeply committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additionally, to be successful at Code2College, you will be aligned with our core values:

  • Resourcefulness: we're a lean startup and none of us are experts; there are so many opportunities to leverage relationships, free and low-cost resources and communal assets to the betterment of our students and organization
  • Urgency: the work that we do is important and every moment is an opportunity to change the lives of our students
  • Transparency: we are candid with each other, share challenges as well as triumphs and have an orientation toward learning from our mistakes by talking about them openly
  • Humility: every success is a team success and we're stronger as one unit; none of us can do this without the support of others

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with at least 2 years experience managing others
  • At least 1-2 years of education experience in instructional coaching or instructional leadership
  • Exceptionally strong project management and time management skills
  • High level of comfort taking and implementing frequent feedback to improve the work
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work well with people with a very wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics; must be capable of achieving results while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style
  • Passion to work at an organization that is minority-led and focused on serving underrepresented minorities
  • Spanish language proficiency is plus
  • Authorization to work in the United States required

ABOUT CODE2COLLEGE

Code2College is a growing non-profit organization based in Austin, TX with a mission to dramatically increase the number of minority and low-income high school students who enter and excel in STEM undergraduate majors and careers. These students often lack access to some of the most in-demand careers and technical industries. Further, the absence of opportunity to explore these areas through exposure to industry professionals, technical skills development, and at-bats to practically apply these skills has led to the dearth of diverse technical talent that we see today.

We believe that through our approach to education, exposure, and experience, we can enhance student preparation for rigorous, technical careers and mitigate some of the key factors around STEM attrition.

Code2College has served over 1,000 students since 2016 and we plan to have served over 8,000 students by 2024.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

Code2College offers a competitive salary for this role. We offer a comprehensive benefits package for all full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision plans. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to join on the ground floor, and be part of the founding team that charts a path forward for organizational growth and success. As a founding team member, you will have tremendous growth potential with the organization.

LOCATION AND START DATE

This is a remote role open to candidates within the United States. To ensure the safety and health of our team and partners, Code2College is committed to being 100% virtual through August 31, 2021, and will continue to assess circumstances to determine when to resume in-person events. Once travel resumes, monthly or quarterly travel is expected for staff working remotely outside of Austin, TX.

This role is available to start immediately upon hire. We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit a current resume, your salary requirements, and a non generic cover letter that addresses what about the Code2College mission, vision and program model resonates with your experience and inspires you, as well as an explanation of why you are the right fit for this role to careers@code2college.org.
