Classroom Inc.

Classroom, Inc. is a nonprofit educational organization whose mission is to close the academic achievement gap by using technology and the world of work to engage, teach, inspire, and empower high poverty middle and high school students. For 25 years, we’ve created digital learning games that make authentic connections between school, college, and career using a blended learning model. Students take on decision-making roles as professionals in a simulated workplace while improving reading, writing, 21st century skills, confidence, and engagement. Classroom also provide educators across the country with professional development to effectively integrate our tools and leverage data driven instructional strategies. Our research-based learning games and curriculum are successfully used in ELA classrooms, after-school, and summer school environments.

In the summer of 2014, Classroom, Inc. launched Read to Lead, a suite of digital learning games that include After the Storm and Community in Crisis. We are about to begin production of our third game and curriculum focused on health and wellness. In these games, students become the boss, must manage their staff, and solve realistic workplace problems while working through embedded assessments that provide teachers with formative student data. All assessed texts are nonfiction and designed to help students achieve proficiency in three Common Core Anchor Standards in Reading.
