Artist (Contract)

About the Role:

DreamBox Learning is currently seeking contract Artists to create art and animation assets for an engaging product that teaches students literacy. Candidates need to have strong vector and raster illustration and animation skills, have good design sense, and are familiar with art production pipelines for games and/or software development.

What You'll Be Doing:

Responsibilities

  • Create vector and raster art and animation assets--UI, Maps, Backgrounds, Characters, Icons--based on existing art styles, templates, and UIUX wireframes.
  • Partner with Art, Design, Engineering, and QA in producing art and animation assets in a software development environment.
  • Make sure produced artwork appears as expected in product builds.
  • Work on the iteration and final implementation of assets.
  • Address and resolve art bugs.
  • Support other artists as in reaching development milestones, including some light visual concepting as needed.

About You:

Skills, experience, and educational requirements

  • Vector and raster illustration and animation skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud apps, especially Illustrator, Animate, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • You have created art for games and/or entertainment geared towards kids of various ages.
  • You can mimic various art styles based on initial direction—from cartoony to stylized realism.
  • A solid foundation in visual design, color theory, and composition.
  • Experience or willingness to quickly get up to speed working in a software production environment: using Git, Bitbucket, Subversion, Webstorm, Jira, Confluence.
  • Proactive and able to contribute effectively with teammates and individually. Plays well with others.
  • Work smart under time and resource constraints and is an effective communicator.
  • 2+ years of experience creating online games and mobile interfaces and/or consumer or entertainment brand experience.
  • Familiarity with UIUX prototyping apps (Figma, Sketch) a plus, though not required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Art or Animation or equivalent experience.
  • Only candidates with an online portfolio of art and animation work samples will be considered.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
