The Project

aiEDU is kicking off a new project to develop AI content that integrates into the AP Computer Science Principles (APCSP) curriculum. We firmly believe that all computer science students must develop core AI literacy skills. Our aim is to create beautiful, engaging, and effective curriculum that develops AI literacy with a sharp focus on addressing the needs of APCSP teachers and students. That’s where you come in. Your deep understanding of the APCSP course and exam, as well as your data-driven knowledge of areas of need in the APCSP community will inform the direction of the curriculum. You will be responsible for several key deliverables related to curriculum planning, exam and create task preparation, and teacher communication strategy.

This is a part-time, contract role that would last 2-3 months depending on availability, with the opportunity for additional contracts in the future. Compensation for this role is $75/hr.

We are a fully remote team working across time zones. As such, we expect contractors to be independent workers who communicate clearly and often. Outside of regular meetings with the project team, we strongly encourage contractors to work during the days and times that are convenient for them.

You will be expected to:

• Guide data-driven decision-making for APCSP content using exam score trends, teacher community insights, past course changes, and more
• Develop curriculum objectives that are both tightly aligned to the APCSP CED and promote AI literacy
• Create exam and create task preparation materials aligned with APCSP standards
• Review new curriculum materials with a sharp focus on usability, equity, and alignment
• Regularly communicate progress and challenges with the project team
• Attend regular virtual team meetings

Note: this is not a curriculum development role. You will not be responsible for creating new lesson plans, slides, handouts, or other instructional materials.

Our ideal contractor might:

• Have 3+ years of experience teaching APCSP, with strong preference given to teachers working in Title I public schools
• Have an equity focus with a demonstrated history of improving engagement and exam outcomes for English language learners, students with disabilities, and/or students from underrepresented backgrounds in computer science
• Be deeply familiar with trends in APCSP teaching strategies and student performance, such as exam data, common teacher concerns, recent course changes, curriculum provider options, and teacher makeup
• Be familiar with fundamental artificial intelligence concepts and tools or feel confident in their ability to rapidly develop this knowledge
• Program confidently in one or more languages at or above the level required on the APCSP Create Task
• Possess the ability to work remotely and maintain a regular communication schedule with the project team

Even better if you:

• Have led a community of practice centered around APCSP
• Have used or modified APCSP curriculum from multiple providers or developed your own curriculum materials
• Have served as an AP reader for APCSP, APCSA, or another course
• Are active in networks of APCSP teachers, such as Facebook groups and provider forums
